Oh, is it the weevil's birthdays too?

Greetings, and thank you terribly muchly for the unexpected birthday wishes. It's been some time since I've visited h2g2, since my workload has reached insane proportions, although I do try to get on from time to time (like now, for instance).

However, I'm kind of scratching my head trying to figure out how you knew it was my birthday. I have a distant feeling that I should know the answer, but it just eludes me.

Hey, close I desperately want to travel to Egypt. And the UK. But Egypt is in Africa.

And yep, had a look at the page. It's awfully cool. I'm trying to find ways to make mine more interesting. But you know, it's there now, so a whole revamp will have to wait.

The whole thing is GuideML, although it wasn't originally - I had to convert it over. What I do is create the page with a text editor, then create a new guide entry, but I never actually submit the guide entry; I just use Preview to test my page and fix it up so it looks OK. Then I just paste it over top of whatever page I intended to replace.

Perhaps there's an easier way, but I'm too lazy to try thinking of it.

Mine's in GuideML too. It's more the content that needs work, I think. See, yours has interesting stuff about weevils, mine doesn't have anything snazzy like that.

Most of the nonsense on my page evolved from silly conversations with other people here on h2g2. In particular, Frizzychick. She was the one who got me started about weevils. She will certainly say otherwise and likely kill me for saying so, but the weevil stuff was all her fault. (I just know she's going to read this - she can sense when I say things like this).

The page just grew over about a year. Granted, I should probably clean it up a bit. Maybe give it a bit of a makeover or something.

Oh, now you've got me all thinking about my page again. Doh!

Everquest? I've just recently gotten over my Diablo II addiction.

Dragonriders? So you're not referring to the traditionally mass-market multi-player online games like Everquest, then? How did you play? Over IRC? ICQ? e-mail? Shouting very very loudly?

Oh no, definitely not. There's a whole bunch of games out there played on servers around the world that are created and run by the people. MUDs, or MUSHes, or MUXes or MOOs. I used to play on MUSHes, mostly 'Multi User Shared Hallucinations' which you can telnet to, or use a telnet shell, which is much more user friendly.
