Hi Rick. Ooh-two more poems for me to read. smiley - smileysmiley - disco Thank you. smiley - hugxx

I've just got back home. It was rather scary coming through the New Forest as there was an awful storm. The traffic had to go very slowly.

I hope you've had a happy weekend. I've been looking after a B&B!! There was only one guest though-a Canadian man who was great company last evening. Silly me-I cried when he left this afternoon(he didn't see me thankfully!). He gave me a hug and it felt so lovely(he didn't know that though!!). It was so nice being made to feel pretty and special!
Back to the flat now-and ofcourse my darling cat.

Brr, it's cold in here. Got any whisky we could share-for warming-up purposes? smiley - winkeye

Life is a deposit
From father to mother
I guess if your lucky
He'll even love her
A constant battle
Between the two
At the bottom
Of the heap is you.smiley - biggrin

Oh, Rick! I don't wanna be at the bottom of the list!

I'm sure the electric will go out soon. The lights go up and down constantly.

I expect you will be off to bed soon, so I shall say a 'goodnight' now. Sweet dreams, dear Rick. Thank you so much for all your poetry. smiley - hug

Guess what I'm about to eat. Some toasted spiced fruit muffins. I had better toast them before I lose the electricity!! I'm starving!

Hello! This had disappeared off my page, so I'm 'bumping' it back onto the front page!

How are you? Have you been busy today? Are you ready for Christmas?

I've been very busy doing so many different things today. I manned the kitchen for our toddler group at church this morning. Took the dogs for a long, wet walk this afternoon. Made a dozen mince pies late afternoon. Did a bit more stitching to the angel costumes. And finally~~home group tonight. smiley - sleepy

Goodnight dear Rick.

Stitching feathers and springy halo's
On a pile of old nativity clothes
Everything spread-out on the kitchen table
Sequins, tinsel and straw from the stable
Everything is such a rush
I've still got egg yoke on the pastry brush
The mince pies are on the nonstick tray
The oven's hot,just blazing away
My,its nice and cosy in here
The warmest I've been, with winter near
Still must dash to the old church hall
Rollers out,Im going to have a ball.smiley - biggrin

I think that that is your funniest poem, Rick. It just about sums me up at the moment.

I've finished ALL my cards now. Posted some of them today(because folk need to know my new address).
Playing the piano tomorrow at church(or have I already said that?).

I found a great new blouse in a charity shop today-a Rohan one. I've never bothered with charity shops before, but now I'm hooked! Lymington is a good place for decent togs!

Hope you had a good day.

Love is not a shoulder to cry on
Its a tiny teardrop in an eye
Its not the moment of someones passing
Its the shattering sound of goodbye
It maybe a thrill to romance
Better still to kiss
Too chance too hold too squeeze and laugh
That's what lovers miss.smiley - rose

Thank you. That's lovely.

I thought you would write one about the daft situations I seem to get myself in e.g. wading through streams in the gathering darkness, or getting locked in a porch(v-e-r-y long story). Twice!

Rick, I had started a poem, then couldn't bear to finish it. Here it is:

I watched all night that dazzling evening-star
Knowing that you, so dear to me-so far,
Would fix it too with wistful, mourneful gaze.
And sigh. Our vision dimmed with unrelenting haze.

So many times I'd listened to your voice. I sought
To read your heart and capture every thought~
Yet fearing what I knew to be the truth.
I'd looked upon your face................

Oh well. Maybe I shall finish it some day! smiley - smiley

Dear Rick,

I don't quite understand!smiley - huh But, whatever you are saying, I'm sure you are very right! I get things very wrong!

I must wish you a 'goodnight' just in case you nest early. Before I go, I must tell you what I was watching just now. There is a large pub/hotel across the road from me. I can see into most of the downstairs rooms. There is a disco going on in one of them at the moment. The women are dancing away, and the lights are flashing! smiley - discosmiley - discosmiley - disco
In the next room, there is a party of elderly folk, having a meal.
I thought it was funny being able to watch 2 very different events side-by-side.

Bed soon. smiley - zzz

Have a happy day tomorrow.

Back to the MB for a little while! smiley - run

Hello Rick.

It's been a long day.smiley - sleepy I was at church this morning, and then with friends for lunch in their cottage. The huge log fire made me very sleepy! Then I helped tonight with the carol-singers supper. Now I am very tired! My back is sore from the jump last night!

I'm off to bed very soon. I hope your day was a happy one. Work tomorrow I expect? Take care. Keep warm.

'Night 'Night, Rick.

Christmas for one is so cruel
While you eat your turkey I'll drool
My meal, I'll take all alone
Feasting on some unknown bone
Give me a hint or reason
Too know, this's festive season
Some banter, goodwill or cheer
To let me know some'b'y else is here
Lots of folks have no-one to share
A thought,a cuppa , or a care
Just because they dont do mass
Dont mean they dont do Christmas.smiley - erm

A piece of blank verse!:

Faith doesn't mean a church seat.
Or the knowledge of scripture.
We each have Faith within our heart.
The poorest amongst us is nearer God
Than those who stand before the alter every week
And give to every charity and cause.

I shall have most of Christmas on my own. Maybe it is just as well as I tend to cry throughout the day(Christmas day). It is a very painful time for me~~~and for many.

Christmas really is magic
Certainly not tragic
A celebration of a birth
When we feel for all we're worth
For someone who is still king
Not with gifts or thanking
Or a card and flashing tree
But of our hero, wannabe
Someone so perfect he had too die
So a pontiuos pilot's ego could fly
Still if only we could all emulate
Him,surely its not too late?smiley - erm

Rick, so many people talked to me today whilst I was out in Winchester. It often happens when I am out. I believe that it is because I love the Lord so much. I tend to smile a lot, even when cracking-up inside. I find myself reaching out to others very often, and it always reaps wonderful results. Pardon me if I seem to be bragging. I'm not! But I do think that many folk have no time for their fellow man.

I also believe that God has given me the gift of compassion. I expect you will find it hard to understand how I can say that. Or maybe you are now laughing! But as an evangelical Christian, I find it easy to admit to what I believe to be true.

Time I took my church-hat off. Sorry.

Thank you for the lovely poem. smiley - hugsmiley - smiley

I guess there's a time
When we all follow a star
Well its time for nativity
So here we all are
Busy making cherub's
Working late at night
Thumbs sore from thimbles
Pressing with all our might
There's the baby Jesus
The star of Bethlehem
The donkey and the manger
Must remember them
Three wise men and gifts
Gold,francinsense and myhrr
Then there's the virgin Mary
A special halo for her
All the ragged shepherd's
Each with their own crook
Throw in a few wooly sheep
Just to get the look
Nearly forgot Joseph
The stable and the straw
Throw in a few candles
Now let the wild parents in the door.smiley - biggrin

From the day they're born
They steal our dreams
Giving everything we can
Our plans our schemes
They always take more
Than we have to give
Yet its no chore
Too watch them live
We watch every step
That they take
Yet we're unsure
When they make a mistake
For the more they want
The more we'll give
For its through our kids
We really live.smiley - rose

As another wine slips down my arid throat
I contemplate my world and fate
The desire to live decreases as I wait
For every dream to extinguish
Yet as I watch a bird flex and stretch
Slowly beat those lifting wings
My addled brain connects to things
I thought long dead,decomposed
Still the bird so free must forage for food
Those wings beat not for freedom but to eat
Like me they must compete too treat
Their hearts that beat,to nutrition
So this wine,meal of mine
My friend my end,so sweet a blend
My wet nurse,companion,best friend
Shelter me,from knowing my fate.smiley - wah
