Stone me..

...it's a long time since I wrote one of these. So long, infact, that I can't scroll down and tell you exactly how long without clicking something that seemed to be designed specifically to rub my nose in my outrageously long absense.

Alot has happened. Indeed so much has happened since I was last a regular visitor here that I feel a different man. In the intervening period I have got married, had a child and we've lost the Guide's own father, DNA.

In any event, I shall hopefully be keeping a bit more of an eye on the place, trying to root out as many of the old gang as I can and, you never know, maybe even recording a few more of the things that have changed in my life since I saw you all last.

Happy New Year! smiley - smiley

Kewl!

I'm on the H2G2 team page. Rose petal strewn halls and nubile young serving wenches - it's just a matter of time.

The best program on British TV at the moment...

...is the BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs.

I watched "The Making of WwD" last night and the first episode was on Monday. Fantastic stuff. Forget Jurassic Park, this one has real science in it too.

It's fascinating to see how precursors to some mammalian traits like live child birth were starting to evolve among basically reptilian creatures some 220 million years ago.

Off again

I wandered round to the off.ramp again last night and lo! Another GA/CA thread.

Jonny.vb set my mind a-ticking on self organising embryology again, so I've decided to put my money where my mouth is and see if I can't rattle a little demo off.

Cell division, gene expression, dynamic feedback it's all there after a fashion (well, it will be) so we'll see what happens.
