Winifred's diet

Y'know, whenever I venture out of the back door, these days, I'd
swear I can hear David Attenborough's voice whispering from the
shubbery.

We have a wasp (though it might be several wasps - they all
look the same to me) that now makes regular visits to our back
garden where she likes to munch on the trellis supporting a couple of
plants.

She settles on the woodwork, no doubt taking a moment to make
herself comfortable, and then proceeds, with audible crunching
noises, to work her busy way down each slat. Shortly afterwards,
happy and sated, off she buzzes into the wild blue thingy.Said trellis is now
covered in 3 - 4 inch long scars where our banded friend has dined.

Weird, huh?

My cat eats moths

Have you ever watched a cat stalk and catch something? The other
night (I've just started July, how about you?) my cat caught a moth.

She cornered the hapless flutterer under one of the shrubs in the
garden and kicked it onto the lawn. There then followed a strangely
fascinating game of cat and moth on the patio. After a while
Puss (for that is her name) paused and left the crippled wingster
flapping maddly against cruel flagstones so I intervened (crunch.)

"Surely that was that", you cry, and so I thought until Puss
(chose the name herself, you know) took moth in mouth and
polished the little critter off.

Yum yum. Apparently.
