Absolution
Posted Sep 11, 2003
Absolution is the name of the new Muse album, the fourth (or, to the purists, the third) showcase of their extraordinary genius.
It is also the name of a My Ruin song.
I want to live in the pretty sun
But daylight just makes me numb
So I cover up my scars
With velvet drapes that kill rock stars
Change my mood
lick my wounds
trust will lead us to the truth
drown myself in misery
sleep with my enemy
destroy my destiny
erase the memory of you
etc, etc.
I am rather obsessive about lyrics, since I believe they hold the most meaning of a song. Many musicians will disagree with me. Maybe this is because I am not a musician, I am a writer, and as such I prefer the written word.
I myself don't particularly believe in absolution. Often (in my experience) someone "drowning themselves in absolution" is only to "excuse their sins" - Tairrie B again. And if someone gets especially guilty about something, it's often to excuse whatever they have done and not necessarily because they feel sorry.
I'm not sure why I'm writing this, because no one has wronged me recently, and I don't tend to bear grudges. Who knows?
Incidentally, The Groove, the B side on Time Is Running Out, isn't that one of the best songs they've done?

No disrespect to any Foo Fighters fans
Posted Sep 2, 2003
Just saying, I love the Foo Fighters like brothers, they are wonderful people and an amazing band. This song is not meant to offend any fans on this site or anywhere else. It isn't a serious song me and my friends are not psychopaths, it was made up by me, Jessi and Ellie while we were waiting for 5 hours for a taxi last week and we were feeling a) disgruntled and b) wanted to unnerve our fellow queuers so they'd go away and make us have a shorter wait.
"See you and kill you" - to the tune of "See You" by the Foo Fighters, from the album "The COlour and the Shape"
These notes are marked return to Satan
I'll save these flowers for your grave
One thing that you'll soon know
How good it is to see you, and kill you
see you, and kill you
ooh
These steps I take don't get me anywhere
I'm getting further from Heaven
One thing is always true
How good it is to see you, and kill you
see you, and kill you
ooh
I'm done planning your death
Now it is time for you to die
and this I promise you
How could I end up chopping the arms off
someone else?
copyright me, Jessi Marks, Ellie Anderson.

Happy birthday to meeee....
Posted Aug 20, 2003
Well, there it is. Sweet (or sour) sixteen.
Useless trivia: James Marsters (Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has this birthday too.
It was so cool. Going to the beach with Ellie, Lani, Karen, Terri, Louise, Rose and Maria. I hadn't seen Maria and Ellie since they left a month ago for America.
And - get this - Jessi can come next week after all! Excellence! She sent me the funniest book "Queen Bees and Wannabes" and a "Be Cheerful" poster. Though I think it's more her who needs the poster...
So, presents:
A rainbow lampshade
The Colour and the Shape by Foo Fighters
Spooks season 1 DVD
Cinnamon tea bags, candle, incense sticks
red and black knee length socks
a wooden elephant
a photo album
a digital camera
a "grasshed", a model head that grows grass as hair
pink gloves
pens
a CD rack
a candle holder
a mandala
a necklace
Queen Bees and Wannabes
Cheerful poster
Your New Favourite Band by The Hives
Money
Ahhh ... (bask)
Unfortunately I got rather sunburnt.
Results tomorrow, therefore I am so nervous. I know it's almost certain I will get into my college but what if I don't? What happens then?

Random thoughts of a disordered mind
Posted Aug 17, 2003
My birthday on Wednesday! Wooo! Sweet (or sour) sixteen... Also, my good friend Ellie is returning from the distant shore of California on Wednesday too, and it's always refreshing to be around her. She always gives me a when I feel bad, and vice versa.
Jessi says she's getting me some , which is excellent ... hey, don't look at me like that, I want them to decorate my room with. They'll go with my sombrero.
And yet ... I have the GCSE results hanging over me ... still, the only thing I REALLY care about is English. Ahh, English, my passion, as Lani puts it. Nice of her.
I can't believe the amount of horror I gained from my Textiles GCSE. Even now, thinking about it... oh, horrific. Plus, Ellie and I were going supernova pretty much all of Year Eleven ... I'd never really thought of it like that but it's true. Hmm. The whole self harm thing is not a good combination with schoolwork.
