*is terribly interested in Kat's romantic life, but...*
In re the Post and UG links on the FP - I think they're terrific. Since I have a bit to do with the Post I always think it needs more profile, and it seems to me that, since the EG always has its latest entries featured on the FP, the UG should too.

Hi katkodl! It was very nice and relaxing with lots of pretty scenery, though I suffered some Internet withdrawal symptoms, I'm afraid. Such as having dreams about hootoo.
Oooh, Kat!

Kat's romantic life is really very boring I promise. But yes the split has been cancelled, girlfriend is now living with us until the university term starts and has got a job in the locale.
My leg is doing well. I've got an appointment at the hospital on Wednesday to check if the latest operation worked or not. Physio is doing well and my balance is *much* better now. My leg still hurts a lot but I walk less lopsided
I forgot that this was my school journal and said that I'm going to school in my other one. Anyway! I'm off to school today armed with a fully charged and updated iPod. I've decided not to court disaster by wering dungarees to school and am going to wear normal clothing. I'm incrediably scared and tired and meeehhhhh

Baited with cheese?
Well....you can unbate your breath Turned out to be teacher training day!! Everywhere else had theirs' last week but the Midlands seems to be somewhat behind.
So I went through all that panic and upset this morning for nothing and now I have to do it again tomorrow morning!!!
Honestly! I'm starting to consider what's so wrong with working for £6 an hour for the rest of my life!

Typical isn't it!? I rang the school secretaries twice today, just to be double sure and the first time I'd forgotten to ask what time school starts (8:30am) and they weren't particularly polite to me, even though the second time round I pretended to be a parent!
Apparently only the 6th form and year 7 are going back tomorrow, everyone else goes back on Wednesday. My only problem is that I actually have to have Wednesday off school for hospital appointments...so I'll miss the handing out of books and finding out what my teachers look like

That's a shame, but the hospital appointmant is more important

Don't they send out little bits of paper or anything telling students and parents these details? Like "oh, if you actually come to school on the first day, we'll just send you home because even though it's the first day, it's not really?"
KAT's Preschool Journal
Kat - From H2G2 Posted Sep 5, 2005
They didn't send me *anything*! I suspect this is because I wasn't at enrolment day, but the head of 6th form said that was fine because he already knew my GCSE grades and so it's not as if I was going to fail or anything and so didn't need to.
Possibly I should have gone to the induction day like you told me to
People are not supposed to be out when I call them I've decided. They should instictively know that I want to talk to them and therefore be right by the telephone. Two people I wanted to talk to this weekend have failed to be right next to the phone. I'm going to try a sneak attack and call them at 10:30pm or something instead of in the middle of the day on weekends, which is when I usually remember I want to talk to people.

I've been out at another of those SF cons all weekend -- have been getting home about 3am each night for a quick crash, and then back out there again. Some very amusing stories to tell when you do get a hold of me.

These people! They never keep me informed!
Right! Let's try again! I really *am* going to school today.

Apologies to those of you who also attend Lil's Atelier. This is a straight copy and paste from there because most of my friends don't frequent it.
Very very tired. To be honest what happened was this:
I arrived at the time the secretary had told me to. I then hung around until 9:30 before the staff got their act together to enroll us all. I then stood around in a queue for 2 hours just to let them know that I was there. I didn't get a timetable or anything at all for some reason. They're giving that to me tomorrow. I had my ID photo taken and then got to go home!
However, tomorrow I have various hospital appointments so I'm not going to be there. Typical eh? I'm hoping that if I call them in the morning they'll send all the forms etc etc I have to fill in down to the front office and the girlfriend can pick them up for me.
I spoke to several people, all of whom were obsessed by the idea that I could buy them alcohol. One person said
"So are you like boozing every night?"
'Er, no to be honest...'
"Why not!? You're EIGHTEEN!!!"
It was all a bit...pathetic.
Lots of people also wanted to see my leg and then wanted me to show it to various girls to scare them, which I obliged because I don't really mind that sort of thing as long as it's not the only thing I'm known for. I do have a sneaky suspicion I'm going to be the girl who can buy drink and who has the gross leg.
There were lots of chavvy girls. This distressed me.
I got home at about 1pm and went straight to bed and only emerged at 5:30 and have since been incrediably snappy and shaky. If this is what I'm like just from two hours in a queue with unknown 16 yaer olds what am I going to be like with actual lessons!!!!!
However...I did it. I am now very definitely going to college.
Plus I did get a sweet text from D saying that if she was invisible she would come to school with me and hold my hand all day and if anyone was mean to me she would secretly poke them and give me big hugs and nobody would notice. Which made me laugh and feel a bit better.
So yes...I survived...just. Now I've just got two more years of it!
