I'm off up north from tomorrow till Sunday.
When I searched for my credit card to pay for the online ticket, I couldn't find it. 
I couldn't recall where I had put it. I searched my handbags, coat pockets, everywhere - no result. I was in a panic. I tried to remember when I had last seen it, but that was at Heathrow airport, so it didn't really help.
However, my ID card wasn't where it should have been, either, and I wouldn't be here had I lost it at Heathrow.
In the end, I looked into the outer pocket of my large 
, and there were my credit card, Oyster card, Miles & More card, and ID card. 
Later, I even found my Bahncard (which I hadn't taken to London), so all is well now.

Believe me, so am I. That feeling of terror when I thought I had lost it all on my way from Heathrow to the hotel really is still with me somehow.

Well, I'm back.
It was great. The journey there stretched like chewing gum (11h), but we managed to shorten the journey back by six hours on the day because we started from my sister's place.

To my parents in the cold and wet north. 
It was my dad's birthday on Thursday, and Abitreff (30 years ) on Friday and Saturday.

Hopefully we soaked up most of the cold and wet before it got in as far as Germany - we had plenty here too at the weekend on *our* north coast!

Nah, it arrived here today. Then again, the land urgently needs the rain. I read in the newspaper today that this has been the driest spring since recording 100 years ago, and that Hesse was the driest of the federal states. We got only 38% of the needed rain.
