That sounds like it was as nice of a leaving as can be (except for your boss not seeming as sorry to see you go as your co-workers).
Losing a job, even a job you don't like, can be pretty demoralizing. Though I'm relieved to hear that you won't suffer (much) without that income.
I appreciate you!

I'm sure he does, I saw him leaving the gym on Monday evening.

On behalf of all bosses everywhere I should just like to say...
A bunch!!! A whole bunch!!!! What happened to a little card with a picture of a flower on it. Better still an e-card. A free one. And a nice grumpy "Yeah. Well, see yer!"
Good luck. P

Sadly, mine has to know mine for work.
But I managed to have him believe for about two years that I don't have a mobile phone. Sadly, he's twigged on to that one too, now, after he saw me nattering away on it last week.

I've given my boss my mobile phone number, but I've told him straight out that if he rings it outside of work hours and I don't feel like talking, I won't answer it. And he knows I mean it.

People pester me for my cell phone number. I tell them it's usually turned off -- which is true. Unless I'm expecting an urgent call, I don't turn it on -- especially when I'm out of state, as it costs me .60 US just to answer it then.
We work from home, so our day and night numbers are the same. Before we had a cell phone, someone wouldn't take my check until I gave them two phone numbers, so I gave them the local automated time of day service.
Bel, bet your old boss is feeling a bit disoriented. He may be walking about in a fog wondering what he'll do with himself when the store is gone, so don't take the lack of emotion personally.

Oh, there's plenty to do for him now: get rid of the unsold items, make a plan what else to put in the shelves, how to arrange them, ....
The food-health shop was just a small part belonging to the pharmacy - which won't be closed.

I think that's reasonable enough, Gnomon. Being contactable shouldn't mean you're still at work all the time.

Post 39, Prof, that is an accurate representation of a Yorkshire man
As for you Bel, enjoy your rest. I hope you find something to your liking in due course. It is hard leaving after many years. I left after twenty five years and I am still in touch with several old colleagues .... I'll rephrase that in case any are reading! ..... previous colleagues and that's after another twenty five years
