World Cup 2014 Brazil - Chile 3:2
Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Jun 29, 2014
The Brazilians have often disappointed during World Cups, haven't they? But usually they play better in the later matches. Let's hope this happens this time also
But I'm relieved that they did not win on a golden goal! Giving 5 players and 1 goalie the chance of redeeming themselves in a penalty shoot out is by far more fair than letting one arbitrary goal decide the whole thing
Maybe they should let all field players shoot a penalty kick each to make it even more fair?
Should one or more players have been sent off with a red card they would be behind already before the shoot out would start. Fine by me

I fell asleep in front of the tv to this match. Probably because I had too much icecream
But I just watched the highlights here:

Seems to have been quite a match! They just said on the radio that the way the Colombians played they may very well send Brazil home!
World Cup 2014 Netherlands - Mexico
Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Jun 29, 2014
This could become a great match
The way the Dutch play - "reaction football" Morten Olsen calls it - may very well become their Waterloo. The Mexicans might be able to figure out how to respond.
But I'm not putting any money on this. The Dutch might win big time or the two teams may neutralize each other and make the whole thing the biggest bore in history. I really can't predict anything
PS: Have you noticed how much the World Cup trophy resembles a ?

Netherlands happy enough playing a very defensive game so far, Mexico have had a few good chances. Slightly scrappy finishing though.

Cooling break? In my day, a player had to faint and be carried off if he wanted a "cooling break".
It's not like this is the first World Cup to be held in a hot country.

That should spur Ned on a bit! Lovely goal.

Very sorry Mexico lost in the last few minutes. I've despised Robben four years ago already, and it hasn't changed. What an actor! What a shame Mexico lost.

I have to agree, Bel, but to be fair Robben was robbed off a penalty in the first half, so...
Rob and being robbed off a penalty seems to be parts of the game now

they said the referee had no chance to see that foul.
I guess I won't watch Costa Rica - Greece, I'm dead tired.
World Cup 2014 Costa Rica won?
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Jun 30, 2014
I watched the game and saw the added-time goal, but it was already past my bedtime so I turned it off and went to bed
I popped here to find out the result, to Costa Rica and sorry to Greece. It's a completely different game when you're not actually bothered who wins or loses, you can actually enjoy the football

Absolutely, GB.
I've enjoyed most matches so far (except for the few which were rather boring), and I'm sure I'll enjoy the matches to come, no matter whether Germany will be kicked out or not. (Doesn't mean I don't wish them )

Consider me confused . According to media Robben has confessed to taking a dive in the first half. But according to the slowmos on German tv he seemed to be fouled very clearly. (But you are right, Bel, the refs had no chance of seeing it and I don't blame them.)
Oh well
World Cup 2014 Nigeria - France

I saw the headline but didn't read the article; it's of no consequence to the match, after all.
Nigeria - France is quite entertaining: like tennis, really.

They were one as bad as the other, and France didn't win undeservedly.
