A pub in Dublin was doing a promotion on Erdinger, where they reduced the price for every German goal. They're selling for 50 cents a pint now. smiley - laugh I guess that one backfired!

I think. I can never tell with the penalty shootouts.

I'm so glad Argentina made it after all.

Argentina winning the penalty shoot-out? Well apparently that dutch keeper had never saved a penalty in his professional career ... a record he was able to maintain.

He was close at two of them. I think keeping a penalty is a lot of luck. Plus, it certainly didn't help that his coach preferred the other keeper for the previous shootout. Not really a boost for anyone's confidence.

We thoroughly enjoyed their drubbing of Brazil. Well, I did, I was laughing at the ease and enjoying the goals. I did feel sorry for the Brazilian supporters and was impressed when they applauded the skill of the German goals while resorting to booing their own team. That's been the match of the whole tournament for me, and helped to erase the pain of England's ignoble performance. When the match ended I said it could only have been bettered if we'd been German and watching in Germanysmiley - magic I was so happy for my host-son Wenzel and also you and Sho. Ian has worked in Germany and can speak fluent German. He happily injected plenty of German phrases during the match when the goals were coming thick and fast. It made it much more interesting for mesmiley - biggrin It could only have been bettered if the BBC had planted a few cameras in German bars to record the sights of German people celebrating each goal. We were watching in disbelief, heaven knows what the atmosphere was like in their home countrysmiley - magic

It's so nice other nations enjoy the German matches.

I have no idea about the atmosphere here in Germany. I'm not one to go to public viewings (and it rained and stormed here anyway, plus, it was much too late in the night). I guess it must have been crazy, though. smiley - smiley

I don't do that either, but it was nice to see a programme recently about Andy Murray winning Wimbledon last yearsmiley - racket1and the BBC had cameras in his home town of Dunblane, Scotland, recording the fans watching on screens, it was magic to relive the actual momentsmiley - biggrin

I have a little bit of fondness for both teams, so I won't be too upset whoever wins tonight. I'm just looking forward to a really good, entertaining game.

As for who I'd support, I guess Germany would have the edge, though.

To be honest I can't see anyone stopping the Germans at the moment, they have really hit top form at the World Cup.

I just hope they get given a game, An early goal for Argentina would certainly liven things up.

To record Last Nights Match

I'll go for 2-1 to Germany.

My intuition...just a feeling I have (which is usually wrong) is that it might go to penalties. I hope not, though, as that always seems an unsatisfactory way to decide a tournament winner.
