I mean, if they didn't want us using the name of someone other than who were are, like FaceBook we'd have to use our real names.... Obviously, Tony Curtis isn't going to be signing on here using his real name, would he?

I personally, have had the nickname "Animal" ever since the Muppets started (err because I once looked like him)so it just carried on to hootoo from the A.M CB radio days and to be honest, 99% of people who know me in real life call me "Animal"

The Discworld people I know call me TRiG, which is cool. As I once said to azahar on her blog, I almost feel that TRiG is my real name; I've had it since primary school.

my friend when he had an invite to my wedding turned up at my M-I-L house and said "i don't know who ********** is but i will come to the wedding" he then saw a photo of my other half and said "oh, its taff????, i never knew his name was *********"

I personally was bugged as a kidbecause ALL my mates had nicnames, me! noeven though my real life name allowed for them, it was only the Muppets that gave me one and BOY! was I chuffedI even tried to get it on my marriage licence (at the time)

I sincerely apologise to ANYONE whose real name is Mudhooks Dubois.... Perhaps we need to put disclaimers in our spaces?

Well, I registered this one, and paid money for it as a dba...so I guess I couldn't be accused of 'impersonating' myself.

Just to clarify; the origional 'tony curtis/sparticus' thing happened when Croz, had his HooToo name modded by a moderator on another BBC board; err the football one Iseem to recall.. Even though I don't think he'd posted there... or something.... his name was modded, so we all went tony curtis... it then periodically reoccured again from time to time, for various silly reasons more or less... plus the whole hallowine thing I guess

Yes, it is in one of Croz' old journals (only that he is Zak the Duck now), and fords started a campaign over on Ican, which I joined back then. My name is still here, so fingerscrossed it won't be taken away again.

The first time we went TC, we had a Mum that looked after us.She must have been Mrs Curtis.

The nicknames are not being moderated without reason. They are being moderated because the Eds asked us very quietly to keep our nicknames to 40 characters or less until they've implemented the "long h2g2 nickname" modification they're working on.
