You can call me TC

It all comes out in the wash.

Here in Rheinland-Pfalz they have curtailed the school year so our prom was in March. My youngest left last year. For his own prom in 2008 he refused to dress up, and came in holey jeans, sloppy sweatshirt and a hand-crocheted hat which he kept pulled over his unkempt (long) hair for the whole proceedings. He did actually participate in the joint performances and his little band played a couple of songs (he scrapes along on bass and vocals). This year, however, when his mates who are a year younger, were being celebrated, he turned up in a suit and came to sit at the teachers' table (with us) and chatted with all the teachers, one of whom paid an old debt of a beer for exceptional performance in one sports lesson.

Sorry to interrupt your journal, B'El. Here's to kids everywhere, renegade or not.. I always say that if you lay the groundstone well in the first 2-3 years, they'll find their way back onto the straight and narrow in the end. If they're driving you mad at 13, just give them another ten years. You'll still have a chance to be proud of them.

So - here's to your son. All the best for his further career. smiley - alesmiley - cheers

I guess he'll keep celebrating for a while - at least over the weekend. smiley - biggrin

They won't have a ball because nobody was willing to build a committee and organise it.

I'll put up a few photos soon.

Sorry, my internet is slow, that was a reply to prof and Bea.

Sho, I once did a 'Typenbestimmung' (type determination thingy) and was found to be the autumn type.

What kind of school was it (I don't know what kinds exist where you live Bel, it's another part of Germany) - and how old are the kids?

It's a 'Schulformbezogene kooperative Gesamtschule', but I have no idea how to translate that. The kids are between 16 and 18 (my son will be 18 in a bit more than three weeks).
