I'm going to refer back to the start (almost) of the convo, re Desmo....

Desmosedici - the method used by Ducati engineers to close the valves in the cylinder head of an engine. Most engines open the inlet and exhaust valves against a spring, operated by a cam. When the lobe on the cam passes, the valve is shut under spring pressure. The Desmo system opens and shuts the valve by a gear driven shaft, I believe the point is that it's more accurate and quicker, which allows the engine to rev harder. Those are the very basics....

The Desmosedici engine is basically 2 V-Twins next to each other - Desmosedici means "desmodromic distribution with sixteen valves" shortened in Italian.

There! I hate to be the bringer of Duff Gen.
