Sory it was me. I'll repost with naughty word removed.
I'm someone who sometimes gets irritated when someone barges in on a message thread. But it's just that; when someone 'barges' in, with a clear motivation to be rude and disruptive and make trouble. I've no problem with people joining in with politeness and good motivations. Same as real life. You can be at a party having a conversation in public, but if some 'naughty person!!!' pushes in and is rude and disruptive, I'm going to say exactly what I think of them and their behaviour. I'm less fussy than I was about it, but I'm still going to give someone short shrift if they barge into a basic one to one thread with nasty motivation.
Reading messages is completely different from posting. I frequently read message threads. As has been pointed out this is a public forum.

If there was a swear word that managed to get passed the filther, it's possible the secondary filther picked it up..

Well there were plenty of asterisks in it. It seems to be a grey area.......And it wasn't the worst word in the world; quite a humorous one in my vocab. But I played *very* safe, second time round; 'naughty person'

I should say the email was instantaneous. So it probably was automated.

I agree with you bel. I came across that list the other day and I didn't think it had been there before... glad to know I'm not losing the plot. Number 1 on the list was a convo between two researchers which, from the few posts I read, seemed to be a chat but I felt it was personal and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable that some of my chats could end up on the FP list.
I understand that this place isn't private but that doesn't mean that it should be impersonal. My PS has been linked to the FP even when I haven't said 'aye' (I think the italics are punishing me for being cheeky to them ) and I'm comfortable with the access that gives people to my PS but I wouldn't want anyone to 'barge in' to what is obviously a convo between two people (any more than I would in RL.) But linking to the FP can only give some people an excuse to do so IMHO.

Van, I bet somebody else said aye in your place and the eds didn't notice it wasn't you.
GB, you haven't missed much so far, but the Fins were good.
