Alright, thank hyou Traveller in Time I'll keep those in mind. Personally, one typo(the extra e) - that's phenomenally good for me!

Hi Bel! You're obviously going to be a very popular ACE - well done!
Incidentally, have you thought about stamping some of your individuality on the role? I mean, I hope they won't mind me saying, but ACE's are all a bit alike. Don't get me wrong, they're all nice, but, well, you know, a bit samey?
Maybe we need an ACE who's a bit, well, different.
Maybe a few mood swings, or a bit of sarcasm, say?
It could break the ice.

Dear me Icy, don't you just ask for too much ? I mean, I don't even understand sarcasm when it bites me in the nose, how do you think I should do it then ? I think I could come up with moodswings, though, being a woman and in my fourties
On the other hand, how can you even suggest I'd be the same as all the other ACEs ?

Traveller in Time not an ACE
"Well, it is only my opinion (but I am not alone in this).
It is indeed more personal using the 'Nick-Name' in the actual < <./>Welcome</.> > . "

Well I was just worried that you might feel obliged to follow the style of the other ACEs.
Perhaps you could try some of the following to spice up those dreary welcome messages:
1) Post every tenth welcome message in German
2) Tell them that every time they see the Server Too Busy message, they've won a mystery prize, and then direct them to the Peer Review page to collect it.
3) Explain that anyone whose name is in italics is in fact in pre-moderation, and that researchers are encouraged to reply to any of their messages with the words "We all know what you've been up to!"

What I used to do B'El was, if they'd actually posted a little bit about themselves, was read it and pass on a link or something that was relevent to them for instant if the were Australian I'd post a link to the Aus and NZ researchers club and so on, I got more replies when I added a little bit more info to my standard Cut and Paste welcome. most of the comments I got after replying to a thank you was "Oh you're a real person, I thought it was an automated message. Don't expect many thanks you's.

Icy, what a great idea - it only would get me banned on the long term, posting in German, I'm afraid.
I did mention the faulty servers, though, if only indirectly
