"Another opening, another show" is from "Kiss me, Kate," not "A funny thing happened." Cole Porter, not Stephen Sondheim.
"Sunrise, sunset," from "Fiddler on the roof"
If they haven't already been mentioned:
"Some enchanted evening"
"Bali Hai"
"Younger than springtime"
I'm still unable to understand why "Hello, Dolly" wasn't on the list.

You can call me TC Posted Feb 19, 2018
The Sound of Music has not been ruled out, and so far only one song has been guessed from it (and that was wrong)
So I'm grabbing the goatherd by the horns and blundering in with 5 songs from SoM
- My favourite things
- The Sound of Music
- 16 going on 17
- How do you solve a problem like Maria?
- Edelweiss

Icy North Posted Feb 19, 2018
One point for SashaQ and two for TC. I've added neither show to the 'no more songs' list...
The cryptic comment I poted earlier about 6 points for 5 guesses referred to two of the songs being titled 'Maria'. If you guesed 'Maria' but didn't identify the show, I'd have had to give you both points, but Deke quoted West Side Story, so I couldn't really give him the point for The Sound of Music too.
Two of those South Pacific songs you guessed are correct, paulh, but Florida Sailor got there first. There is one further song to find from that show.
I've double and triple checked, but, yes, there's nothing from Hello Dolly. Like you, I feel completely disenfranchised by the fact. I think I'll write to my MP.
Correct gueses so far:
4. As Long As He Needs Me (Oliver)
5. Bali Ha´i (South Pacific)
6. Big Spender (Sweet Charity)
12. Flash Bang Wallop (Half A Sixpence)
13. Food Glorious Food (Oliver)
14. Get Me To The Church On Time (My Fair Lady)
16. Good Morning Starshine (Hair)
17. Half A Sixpence (Half A Sixpence)
19. How To Handle A Woman (Camelot)
20. I Don´t Know How To Love Him (Jesus Christ Superstar)
24. If Ever I Would Leave You (Camelot)
25. If I Were A Rich Man (Fiddler On The Roof)
28. Mame (Mame)
29. Maria (The Sound Of Music)
30. Maria (West Side Story)
32. My Favourite Things (The Sound Of Music)
35. People (Funny Girl)
36. Shall We Dance (The King & I)
38. Some Enchanted Evening (South Pacific)
41. Superstar (Jesus Christ Superstar)
46. Tonight (West Side Story)
47. Tradition (Fiddler On The Roof)
48. Wouldn´t It Be Loverly (My Fair Lady)

Florida Sailor All is well with the world Posted Feb 20, 2018
Just because it is my personal favorite 'You Have to be Carefully Taught' (South Pacific)
I can not spell French but is 'Te Tum Waugh por quai la vie es dellum' (Tell me why Life is Sweet...)close enough? ( South Pacific)
Tradition (Fiddler on the Roof)
Who Wants to buy this wonderful Morning (Oliver)
We Ned a Little Christmas (Mame)

Half A Sixpence
Jesus Christ Superstar
Mame
Oliver
Sweet Charity

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Feb 20, 2018
I think the reason that Hello Dolly and High Society are not represented is that they are both musicals in the grand Song and Dance tradition of America. The compilation album is English, and English musical tradition is more based on operetta, so the song-and-dance style is less popular over this side of the Atlantic.

Yes, that makes sense.
Oh, there's no G&S on the list.

Picks of the day are:
Matchmaker Matchmaker. Fiddler on the roof
Thank Heaven for little girls. Gigi
Any dream will do. The amazing technicoloured dreamcoat
And I if West Side Story is still open...
Officer Krupke
Cool crazy boy.
Deek

Rather than try and pick the best songs from the musicals with songs outstanding I'll guess new musicals that we've not picked yet. A riskier strategy that's probably without reward…
Chim Chim Cheree (Mary Poppins)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)
Protocoligorically Correct (The Slipper and the Rose)
Somewhere Over The Rainbow (The Wizard of Oz)
White Christmas (Holiday Inn/White Christmas)
I know, so far all the songs have been in English, so why am I risking not one but two guesses on songs that are sung by whatever language or attempt at communication it is that emerges from Dick van Dyke's mouth?

36. Shall We Dance (The King & I)
38. Some Enchanted Evening (South Pacific)

*42. Thank Heaven For Little Girls (Gigi)
46. Tonight (West Side Story)
47. Tradition (Fiddler On The Roof)
48. Wouldn´t It Be Loverly (My Fair Lady)
There are now no further songs to find from Fiddler On The Roof.
There are no songs from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on the record - it may be just too recent for this list.
None of Bluebottle's shows are on the list, as he suspected. Most of them look like more recent stage productions based on earlier films.

If I remember correctly, by the early 70s - when I first saw it done in my old high school - 'Joseph' was still in its original form, which was as a cantata with narrator for schools. I don't think it had reached the 'expanded for Broadway and grownups' stage yet?

What musical was "Send in the Clowns" from?
Whatever - that's my guess for today.
Friday Quiz - Musicals
Icy North Posted Feb 20, 2018
It think Send In The Clowns was from 1776
Or maybe 'A Little Night Music'. But it's not on this record as it's a little too recent (1973).
OK, Dmitri scores a point for:
3. Aquarius (Hair)
There are no further songs from:
Fiddler On The Roof
Funny Girl
Hair
Half A Sixpence
Jesus Christ Superstar
Mame
Oliver
Sweet Charity
There *are* further songs from:
Camelot
Gigi
My Fair Lady
South Pacific
The King & I
The Sound Of Music
West Side Story
and 7 more shows, some of which you’ve had incorrect guesses from.
But there are no songs from these shows:
1776
A Funny Thing Happened
A Little Night Music
Annie
Bells Are Ringing
Cabaret
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera)
Evita
Fantasticks
Guys And Dolls
Gypsy
Hello Dolly!
High Society
Holiday Inn
How To Succeed In Business
Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Singin In The Rain
