On the subjects of infants learning languages - our little grandson has just started. He has mastered - increasingly recognisably - several words in German, and in English he speaks more in phrases. Before you say : "Well, words are longer in German anyway" I will embellish that with the explanation that most of the words are of two syllables and the phrases are usually three syllables - "Auto", or "Gurke" or even "Google", (well, he does live in Silicon Valley) but "put that there" and "There it is" in English.

Nidge means shake or quiver.

So, were you drinking a milkshake or taking arrows form your quiver?

How do you grow mushrooms?

One of my coworkers once worked for a valve company (there are plenty of these in the Houston area, of course). One of her company's clients was a mushroom farm (portobellos and button mainly). One day they gave her a tour of their facilities and showed her their valves in use controlling the flow of the sludge they grew the mushrooms in. She also learned what the main components were.

She no longer eats mushrooms.

Should be horse shite. Was she put off by that?

She didn't go into full detail, but I believe there were a lot of "by-products" from pig farms and processing plants.

Yeah, it didn't slow down my appetite for 'shrooms. I love 'em.

I sometimes consider getting one of those log kits for shitake mushrooms.

Speaking of which, here's the tale of the Tree Brain.

Why was that link marked as "already seen" on my screen? I swear I have never seen it before.
