Icy's Christmas Quiz
Icy North Posted Dec 29, 2014
Sorry, you didn't score with those.
I'm worried that if you don't get the Elvis one soon, you may not get it at all.
The remaining 1950s singer is half Syrian, half Lebanese, once Canadian but now American.

Completely wild guess - could that be Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam? Too bad I don't even know his hits...

You can call me TC Posted Dec 29, 2014
I can't think of anyone who fits that description either, but it did remind me of Esther and Abi Ofarim. Maybe one of their songs is in this list?
However, I won't speculate on that, but I shall go for five Elvises just to make sure
Jailhouse Rock
Blue Suede Shoes
Wooden heart
All shook up
In the Ghetto

Oh - hang on, Bluebottle's already tried two of those.
Here we go again:
elvis elvis elvis elvis elvis
Blue Suede Shoes
Wooden heart
In the Ghetto
Tutti frutti
Are you lonesome tonight?

Not Cat Stevens, sorry
And you'll kick yourself over Elvis. It isn't those (he's had so many hits), but I dropped rather a sneaky clue earlier.
And I suggest you don't speculate on Esther and Abi Ofarim.

Could the lebanese/Syrian/Canadian/American be Paul Anka?
Cheesiest Elvis I can think of: Peace in the Valley
Icy's Christmas Quiz

You score for:
45. Paul Anka - Diana (1.240m)
OK, time for some bigger clues.
The four unclaimed songs in the top ten include two songs by a German/Caribbean disco band; a duet from a 1970s rock-and-roll revival movie; and a 1950s ballad revived in the 1990s by a couple of actors. This song was also revived in the 2000s by a guy from a talent show - this features further down in the list - but its most enduring version was recorded in the 1960s (yet this isn't on the list, surprisingly).

You got one of those obscure Scandinavians:
15. Aqua - Barbie Girl (1.723m)
26. Human League - Don't You Want Me (1.43m)
Some clues for the unclaimed songs 11-20 on this list:

A BBC corporate promotion;
A Liverpudlian entertainer;
and another from the Fab Four
