Toast! Day the Fifthteenth

Today I went into the big smoke, I am lucky that I live close to a train station, and I live close to the city, so it is just a short ride.

I was after a couple of things, a usb to micro usb cord, so I can plug my phone into my battery booster.. now my phone will always be charged.

And secondly, a new toaster, as mine fried itself last week smiley - sadface

Two weeks ago when I bought my red blender, I saw a red toaster, and thought 'sweet, that is mine'... unfortunately this was not to be.

I went into retail chain A and couldn't find it, then I realised that I bought the blender from retail chain B. I couldn't wait a week, to get a toaster..toast is my life, gluten free bread is best toasted. So I came away with a shiny silver and black toaster, with nice wide slots, that will be able to toast just about anything I can bung at it.

One of my favourite toast toppings at the moment is peanut butter and cheese, what is your best or favourite toast topping?

Shops! Day the Thirteenth

Typical Saturday today

Over to the Snow Meows place, then we went off to the shopping centre, JB Hifi had 20%off dvds and blu rays.

Had a horror of a time getting a park, but we eventually did, and it was very close to one of the entrances. smiley - smiley

We ran into some friends, at the dvd shop, so we did a bit of a catch up. I got 'The Guild' Season 1 and 2, and the Snow Meow picked up a couple of things too.

Had a nice lunch, but my favourite karage chicken place is still closed for renovations.....three weeks now I haven't had my chicken!

Then since we were parked so close to the entrance and right by the supermarket, we did a bit of food shopping and came out with a couple of mini pavlovas, with pine/mango puree on top, they'll make a nice dessert.

Just by the supermarket, there is a nice Japanese place, so we got bento boxes and miso soup, to reheat later....finally I got some karage chicken.smiley - biggrin

and them home.

I took a nap!

And tonight I will be playing a bit of WoW and we will probably be invaded by a few friends

All in all a nice day

smiley - cheers

P.S. I only bought 2 new phone covers today

smiley - tongueoutsmiley - run

Poppies! Day the Tweleth

Today I bought a poppy on my way into work, I made sure I had plenty of gold coins in my purse, and put several in the bucket.

Sadly, I didn't see many wearing poppies, it doesn't seem to be as popular anymore

I was up barely in time for the minutes remembrance:

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

The "Ode of Remembrance" is an ode taken from Laurence Binyon's poem "For the Fallen", which was first published in The Times in September 1914.

As a teenager, I was in the Air Cadets in NZ, this was one of the bigg days of the year for us, we formed the Guard of Honour, around the cenotaphs where the services where held.

We practised doing the gun salute till our timing was perfect.
gun at shoulder,
raising gun,
slapping gun,
then lowering gun until the barrel rested at our feet and our heads bowed.

It was a solemn moment and much emotion could be felt.

I was chosen for several years in a row, and it is still something I think of each year.

Lest we Forget

Hooks! Day the Eleventy

Up the side of my desk (and yes, it is red) I have stuck a series of hooks, to hold my phone covers.
Every few weeks I have had to hang more. and it is looking a bit lopsided and decidedly full, covers keep 'jumping' off and disappearing behind my printer.

So tonight, when it was quiet at work, I went and scouted the hooks bay, and have bought four new hooks, which should hold at least 4 thin cases or 3 thicker cases, and a small shelf to hold my leather cases, my LED torch and probably my phone battery booster.

Now I have to pull off all the old hooks and decide how to position the new hooks, and which of the old hooks to keep and reuse.

I will think on this over the next few days, and probably do it late Sunday or on Monday, I have to get the symmetry right.

If I put this hook here, then, I have to put that hook there, I am sure I will change my mind several times....smiley - erm

I foresee and interesting weekend ahead
