I have just seen a news report about the california fires.how ever do people get back to normal after experiencing such disasters?????it must be terible to be so scared that you are going to lose everything.....then...as if it isnt bad enough were told that some were started purposely.what sort of person would do that????my heart goes out to the people having to live through this threat,,,,and to the ones who have lost their loved ones.

On friday there was fire by my house. There were three fire trucks and but I think everyone was safe. I heard on thursday the house next to it had a fire too. So now I'm all worried about fires and make sure that all candles are turned off.
I was just checking this out actually http://www.firerescue.homestead.com/chippan.html

Here they have been saying on the news the home fires due to smokers are down but there is a huge increase in fires from unattended candles.

People were saying that maybe someone lit the fire on purpose because the fire chiefs came over to investigate

I can remember the fire we Had! well it wasnt so much a fire as a smoulder What actually happened was the timer we had on our washing machine melted during the night, filling the house with a fine smoke! It also cracked the tiles around the socket!!
It took us weeks to get the house cleaned up

in hot dry weather we all know fires are ignited much quicker, but to deliberatly light a fire in the dry conditions that are prevelant in california just now is deplorable.it was said on the news that one was deliberate....why????what is wrong with the sort of people that do that.i hope there are no more fatalities.candles seem to be causing a lot of fires since they became so popular...it makes me wonder if they should introduce more stringent regulations for the manufacturers.i had a beautiful candle bought as a present....i honestly couldnt tell that the outer case was paper.luckily i didnt want to spoil it so it never was lit!!!

Us Britons should count ourselves lucky that our climate does not readily support such natural/ deliberate disasters. It is good however that in areas where this happens often the population are relatively prepared and are able to bounce back quickly.
I hope the people of california are able to do so, and that few suffer for these idiots who start such things amusement.

These storys always bring me back to my childhood,
I was only 6 but remember it like yesterday.
we lived on a street where there was about 8 houses and a shop next to our house. there was a house that had been empty for sometime in the middle of us all. some (what was called then) Tinkers that had been liveing there. But they got evicted so they set fire to the place. The whole row of our hoses was burned down to a rubble. i remember we was left homeless that night no where to live no belongings. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt just our possesions.
That still haunts me now at the age of 34.
I realy feel for all those people that are suffering during this disaturas time.

Yes, there was a story on Canadian News about it being a very acrid smell, unlike our big fires here just recently. And the fire being roughly twice the size !

Our state sent planes and people yesterday to fight fires in California.
Now we have a fire and very high winds here I hope it does not get out of hand here too.
The smells and pollution from houses burning is very bad.
All those toxic building materials and black smoke...
On top of the trees burning
Have you guys seen pictures of the fire twisters? They are just like tornados on the ground made of fire.
