A year ago I was at home happily reading my newly-purchased copy of The Salmon of Doubt and after seeing several mentions of this h2g2 thing I decided to take a look at it myself.
My life hasn't been the same since.
I have met some of the most interesting, caring, wonderful friends here over the past year. I've been involved in conversations ranging from the totally silly to the seriously challenging. And all of them worthwhile.
Anyhow, just wanted to take a bit of time here to thank all of my friends (you know who you are! ) and raise a glass of whatever you fancy and celebrate one year of being here with my very special hootoo family.

Congrats, Az!
I was trying to remember when I first signed on. Surprisingly, it was end of October 2003. I didn't think it was that long. Tie flies when you are having fun.
There were a few hiccups with the long-gone but not lamented "Purdy Young Thing" and certain "Icemen" but, all-in-all, lots of fun.

Happy Anniversary!
I'd say something more witty and elaborate, but I've been away for six days - yes, only six - and I'm just drowning in backlog...
Ivan.

aw shucks guys!
But really this thread is for all of you and for this place where we all met. It's hard to imagine that a year ago I didn't know any of you and I'd hate to think what my life would be like now if I hadn't happened to pick up that book. I'm so happy that I did and found out that h2g2 existed.
