Back in Oct 3rd, 2000 Blues Shark was Warlock!
Mina goes back to Mar 25, 2000.
I'm not sure about Toxx but it could be Sep 15, 2002.

pheloxi,
Yes, I agree that hootoo is very addictive. But unlike many addictions this one doesn't have a serious 'down side' to it except for time spent here that might - possibly? - be better spent doing other things.
I reckon that if I thought I had better things to do then I'd be doing them. But sometimes I do find myself here until the wee hours checking postings and replying to them when I should be in bed.
Well, I'll sleep plenty when I'm dead.

Alji,
Blues Shark was once Warlock???
I've always thought of Mina being here since the beginning - when was the beginning of h2g2?

Some time in 1999, I think.
When was 'Rupert'?

Quote;
"Probably the most dire event in H2G2's history was the 46-day period (which some claim was actually 42) from January 25 to March 13, 2001,when the site was closed down pending transfer to the BBC. In retrospect, this period was called "Rupert." Why "Rupert?" Well,
just because. (For more info, see F63270?thread=100604)
Some claim that the period resembled a planet by that name (Mentioned in one of the HHGTTG books) beyond the orbit of Pluto."

Alji,
Douglas Adam's vision was very moving to read. (Just an aside, but I think he wouldn't have had any problem with digi-box users.) I liked how he placed the simple commonplace bits of information together with more important things. It's all information. It is all about communicating. Very nice.

Alji,
I asked toxx and he says he did join in Sept. 2002 - so you are right again!
How do you find out when people joined? Because some people join but don't post for awhile.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like Posted Mar 4, 2004
I was 100 Watt warlock way back in October 2000. Seems like a rather long time ago.
Mina was certainly here pre-Rupert, though I don't know how active. She was one of those who joined after the original piece on Tomorrow's World, but didn't post much fo a year or so.

How many people here have been to meets? (Blues I know you have, and very recently Ivan has in Sydney) I wonder how it would be to meet everyone I know here in person - it would certainly be a bit strange, I think.
So far I have only met Blues in person when he came here for a holiday last summer, which was lovely. But it might be weird to meet a lot of you all at once. In the sense of not really being able to take it all in. If that makes any sense.

Is there not some kind of logs or something that we could persuade an admin to publish or something? Or do I have to trawl through all my conversations to find out? I've got no sense of time, you see...

Find out what, Mal? How long you have been here? I think my date showed up on the 'retrieve my details' page when I changed my email address, which is why I remembered it.
Also, it's the same day as Noggin's birthday.

So how could I get to this much-famed "retrieve my details page"?

You can find out when you were aced by looking back on your personal messages.

I wasn't Aced for at least a couple of days after I joined (as far as I remember).
The 'retrieve my details' thingy (on alabaster) is in the top right hand corner next to the sign-out button.

The retrieve my details didn't have anything about joining date. But around the earliest posts I could find were around april, 2003. I think my first ever posts were on the God: Fact or Fiction? thread, but as you can imagine, the prospect of looking for one single post in that monster is most unappealing...

I just had a look and I was Aced on March 7. But I know that I have seen a page here recently with the date I joined on it - I thought it was when I changed my email address.
Perhaps Alji will know.
