By the way do you want some Pomagne? I've actually got a bottle mixed in with a load of old Champagne which Mum had in her attic! Some is 25 years old, from my 21st! Saving it for when the drains get blocked

Isn't a well aged pomagne also an un-natural treatment for slugs and stuff?

It would kill most things, also strip paint and varnish from wood!!

I can remember being at a fair, where we fished for plastic ducks with Brass Hooks attached to their backs. The object was the first to hook a duck using a bamboo pole with a string and ring. the prize? Pomagne. My mate and I one a dozen bottles at 10p a shot, before being banned from taking part. After three bottles we were desperately trying to give the stuff away. Eventually dumped them, and then promptly dumped what had been consumed. Never touched it again.

Ahhh, the good old days when going to the fair did'nt cost 2 weeks wages
I once won a huge fluffy snake at the fair, i treasured that snake for years. Sadly it got a bit worn, so i gave it to mums dog, he loved it

There have been some nasty colds going around recently. A few of us at work were really poorly with it. It just seemed to linger for ages, then moved into the chest One of my colleagues was off work for a week with it.

So that's what pomaigne is. I never had that - round this way it was always strong white cider (Rich will argue with calling it 'cider' no doubt!) or Buckfast wine.

In the late 70's, we had "Ruby Rouge", ... about a gallon of the rankest , for $1. As extremely lowly paid Privates in the military, we aquired a taste for the stuff.

Sounds better than the 'Concorde' and 'Thunderbird' we were drinking then! That was worse than Pomagne! It was only because I was a student and it was cheap that I went anywhere near it.

Having said that, the '70's did have such delights as Cherry B, Pony, Mateus Rose, Black Tower and Liebraumilch, so we were spoilt!

Ye gawds, you did have to mention Mateus and Black Tower, didn't you?
