I just popped by the Gilroy meetup space and I see where you are offering a wee bit of land to pull up a rock and camp on for the Gilroy meetup! I think that is fantastic and I should liike to take you up on that offer. I was trying to figure out how to arrange something in the way of accomodations for the meetup and was trepadations about getting a hotel for the fest.

Hi! smiley - bigeyes.. if I am coming to the meet, then having somewhere to sleep would be wonderful. It depends on she with whom I'll be coming of course, but I'm more than happy to sleep under and over a couple of ponchos, assuming there are some trees or something I can string them between; I'll just have to remember to get some proper british ones before I leave the country. smiley - winkeye.. so I may also take you up on your wonderful offer. smiley - biggrinsmiley - hug

Hi! As I live in a redwood forest, there are more trees than buildings- it does get cold here, but July should be pleasent. There should be room in the house-the only drawback is that a family of 5 lives in the 2nd bedroom.Oh-poison oak-if you`re allergic to it,I`ll point it out to you. So,basically,it`s always on the cool side here.My mom built the house as cheaply as she could, but it does have 1,900sq.ft.&,indeed it`s on 2 1/2 acres-there should be room for quite a few friends-just bring warm clothes for the night.Gilroy will,no doubt,be hot-so be prepared! But trees? tons of them-& a creek.it`s only a mile to safeway(a large grocery store w/a coffee shop& a laundry in the same location)Lovely to have such a delightfull response!! smiley - earthsmiley - magicsmiley - musicalnotesmiley - tit Neug smiley - bigeyessmiley - biggrin

The family has pushed my easy-going nature to its limit-no worries there`s still room. But camping in July should be delightfully warm here-Gilroy will be HOT tho. smiley - cheerssmiley - winkeye Neug-smiley - bigeyes

Hmm. Makes me glad that I have a SUV that I can sleep int he back of, if poison oak be about. But I also have a tent and proper camping gear, so I can make do with just about anything. I have never seen a redwood in anything other than a deck, so it will be good to see them as they live.

Are there safe areas for a small campfire on your land? If so then I forsee a nice excersize in toasting marshmallows and drinking beer into the night

I inherited my house when my mom died of cancer in1979.I rented it out for 21 years-only asking that the people keep up on the maintaince-well,they didn`t.I only asked 1/2 of its` market value,so I didn`t make any $.I spent the $ on rent in Santa Barbara,ca.where I graduated from college in 1982(I took 2 yrs.off to wander about the world before I graduated). My mom was frugal to the point of parody,so she had my ex-brother-in-law build her this place for 12,000$.It`s in a beautiful location-but it`s not the sort of house I`d ever want to live in.It has 2 large bedrooms&2 bathrooms;a living room-kitchen;an entry way;alarge garage;a wrap-around deck which is in dire need of repair-well,most of the house needs fixing-up.The last family who lived here(after the couple who didn`t maintain it) replaced all the indoor appliances-then took them w/them when ever-rising prices in SB forced me to move back here.I had to take a mortgage out because the roof leaked like a sieve, the deck needs massive re-building& things like the septic tank had never been pumped out.I worked in the jewelry trade for 10 yrs.or so; 2 retail stores went out of business, then the wholesale jeweler I worked for had to downsize in the1990`s-just as well, since my dad had a fatal stroke & my ex of the last 9 yrs.broke up w/me on the way to dad`s funeral.I just lived off the rent I got then. Now I`m basically living off the mortgage-the idea was to rent out the 2nd bedroom, which would cover the mortgage- Gary gives me ~300$/mth.(he`s on disability as he`s broken just about every bone in his body)He also buys food for us until his $ runs out. So the family who won`t leave(don`t pay rent either)are the only negative thing about living here. But,I simply have to evict them. Whew! ask me a ? & get a thesis in reply.smiley - earth<smiley - musicalnotesmiley - tit Neugan smiley - bigeyes

Sure, there`s a creek-so it should be safe to build a campfire there.Gary smiley - lovebeer,so that activity would be fun!I prefer white wine-or gin&tonics or,heck just not red wine(I`m allergic). This is truely lovely, not too developed, land.Gary rides his mountain bike everywhere.Carmel itself started as an artist`s colony-so industry, per se,is miles away. smiley - magicsmiley - earthsmiley - musicalnotesmiley - tit Neugan smiley - bigeyes

I got my BA in Anthropology-since I took classes from professors that students raved about.Other majors were too rigid in their course requirements. The idea was to get my MA in psycho-sociology(from the sociological perspective)BUT my ex-decided to tell me he wanted to break up on the day I graduated(with honors).I had it all lined up the sociological part of UCSB was fascinating-but I 'think' in socio-psychology terms (ie i found it easy& completely easy to understand-thus I got A`s)the funny bit is that there is a psycho-sociology,taught from the psychological perspective-which I don`t 'click' with.oh well,I know I do better in college than in 'real'life. smiley - hugsmiley - cuddlesmiley - musicalnotesmiley - tit Neug-smiley - bigeyes
