40 meters? Pah, with old growth, the branches are unlikely to start that far down!

but I just posted that idea on the hi Neugan thread.Oh,the kind editors/moderators at h2g2 removed my post which had our phone # on it-whew! G`s not 1 to be suspicious, but he thought I`d definitely lost it by posting that bit. Also,Redwood bark shreads he pointed out. But,at the thought of sharing a lovely beer on the ground,he calmed down a bit.As I said, oak trees are fun to climb-redwood trees are fun to admire.tree Neugan

Maybe when I get my digital camera, I'll take a picture of the little ones (well, OK, medium-sized, but still not large) by the 6 above-ground-stories building I w*rk in. Then maybe njan will understand why we're a bit incredulous that he could climb one of your big 'uns...

There should be an 'attach' button in your e-mail program which you can use to attach files to e-mails; you can't attach pictures to postings. Once you've clicked attach, you should be able to search in "My Computer" for the pictures on disk (click on the "3 1/2'' floppy disk" icon and they should be there. .. if you want to send them to me, I could always distribute them to anyone else who wants to see.

Just because there aren't branches doesn't mean it's unclimbable. It just makes it more dangerous (to a level I wouldn't want to risk myself with in front of anyone who cares about me.)

Those ones look rather a lot like the douglas firs that I have in my front garden, or an evergreen version of the poplars that I've climbed in the past, except much bigger; they're climbable, but challenging. You /do/ need equipment, so I'll probably be consigning myself to oak trees only; they're a bit more managable.
I've sent that one to Marv already; and I'll send them to anyone else who expresses an interest. .. *awaiting incoming mail*

Didn't you know, Neugen? Everyone that was at the Pennsylvania Dutch Meet last summer (including me) is an axe murderer--we all agreed
