Something is wrong with me peteY. I must be ill, I feel ok.
This morning was smiley - blue I had an interview yesterday for a university place and was scared, but now I am high!
Wont last long though I spose.
Give me a few minutes and I will be crap again. smiley - hug

The days are becoming lighter now and warmer (a little).
Maybe this is the reason. I don't remember taking any drugs or anything smiley - laugh

smiley - wow
good for you, amanda! smiley - ok
but, have you crashed yet? smiley - blue
i've had similar fleeting periods of relative euphoria for no apparent reason. smiley - huh
here's a list of things i've come up with to explain your "high" smiley - biggrin today
a. you, in fact, DID take something like cocaine, but forgot somehow.
b. emotional relativity.
as you were anticipating your interview, you were anxious and this anxiety increased as the day of the interview approached...
now, your hedonic set point remains homeostasis, so, as this interview-induced anxiety persisted, your brain reset your hedonic set point at a higher level to get you back to your baseline...
now, that the interview is over, your anxiety is lifted, but your hedonic set point remains at its adjusted level. it will readjust pretty soon to its baseline level, but the lifting of your anxiety was more sudden than the rate at which your hedonic set point re-establishes its previous baseline of smiley - blue

are you following me? smiley - huh

here's one of my famous diagrams to help you understand smiley - laugh

WAY before interview---closer to interview--interview yesterday--today

--------------------anxiety increases----------------------anxiety vanishes
--------------------and pushes down
--------------------hedonic setpoint
-------------------------||------------------------------------no more downward
-------------------------\/-----------------------------------push on hedonic state

your hedonic setpt remains stable-----------------------------you feel
balanced out by the anxiety and----------------------------------good!
your brains response to the anxiety------------------------------smiley - biggrin

-------------------------/\-------------------------------------------------/-------------------------||-------------------------------------------------||
--------------------brain maintains--------------------------------brain is still
--------------------homeostasis by-----------------------------at re-adjusted
--------------------increasing dopamine----------------------state for awhile
--------------------activity, etc...to
--------------------ramp up your intrinsic
--------------------pleasure state to
--------------------"offset" the downward
--------------------"push" by your anxiety

make sense?!

here's 2 smiley - hugsmiley - hug and 3 smiley - kisssmiley - kisssmiley - kiss
to help you feel better!

Later

Wow, your diagram is ace. smiley - ok

Your interview anticipation theory makes sense.
It is perfectly sensible to assume that the body would take over like a sort of protection mechanism to stop me sh*ting myself before and during the interview. Then afterwards would attempt to return me to 'normal' by sending levels of whatever high again. Too high for 'normal' functionability but plenty to make me a little manic. smiley - laugh
How wonderful.
I might start arranging interviews on a weekly basis.
Just hope the comedown is not nasty. smiley - blue

i'm smiley - biggrin happy to see that you're still flying high smiley - flyhi!!
EMOTIONAL RELATIVITY
you must experience bad smiley - bluesmiley - grr to experience good. smiley - flyhi
maybe that's the basis for masochism. smiley - huh

i am convinced that hypomania leads to the most creativity and success in life. this state actually puts our brains in a mode of higher level information processing...

so, what kind of university job are you looking for? i thought you taught little kiddies smiley - huh

peteY out! smiley - ok
