Because in addition to being citizens of the United States as of 1924 they are also citizens of their own sovereign nations. So they have rights under treaty as well as rights under the Constitution and the treaties carry to same weight of law as the Constitution.

Very good.....! Concise and accurate!
Excuse my memory, but didn't I read once that you are studying law?
I sure hope so.

No, that's what my family wants me to do. I'm studying history and literature instead. But I do my legal homework occasionally just for self-defense you might say.

You need to be in law....and use that passion you have(tempered for the situation)to help.
The history is a good thing to know, but you need a way implement the knowledge.
Believe it or not, the US court system HAS to rule in favor of the law. Look around on the net and make contacts with ideological compadres who are already there, fighting the battles.
You may find friends who can help you with your cause.

You might be right about that. I think there's plenty of lawyers to cover that end of the issues.
I think indian people have always been on the right side of the law, but on the wrong side of the issues. That's especially disheartening when you realize that the people who make the law won't obey it and the people who are sworn to uphold it won't enforce it.
That's why I've sort of decided to become a storyteller, telling children's stories to grownups in the hope that they might finally be pursuaded to grow up and act accordingly. That probably won't get me many friends but I guess realistically you can only do it one person at a time anyways.

I typed a long text only to lose it and I liked it!
*sigh* I'll prioritize & skip the restfor now.
I wanted to say I have spent a lot of my hootoo time as of late, reading your work.
Story tellers are important. You are into truth and would not change the stories.
It is such a wonderful valuable part of peoples culture. I do not see how you could resist. *Seems* you have it quite naturally.
I have learned far more from stories than lecture. Stories have staying power. Being multi-layered they hold a lot of power, keeping them alive. It could keep you enlivened too!

I'm gratified that you've found enjoyment and information in my stuff. I rarely hear that sort of thing so it's always a welcome encouragement.
Most people probably don't appreciate that some of the stories are very old, but I still tell them because they teach things that are still very pertinent to surviving and behaving well in this world.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment. I'm sorry you lost most of your comments but you should feel welcome to post them when it's convenient.
