Glad you made it...hope you really enjoy the place smiley - smiley. I have to admit, it took me awhile, before I felt reasonably comfortable, & yes, I did a fair bit of 'lurking & smirking', before I signed up, not to mention, abit even after 's/u'. Of course, all thats ancient his...well, at least 'fading in the rear view', as they say smiley - winkeye.

So, get settled, I'll mention you to a few of the other Canadians I've met, here, & I'm sure they'll be dropping by, ok. Nice to have someone from 'the old neighbourhood'!

I notice you're online, right now, Jet! I was just out doing some shopping, the I took a bundle of newspapers & some otrher stuff out to the recycling bins. I noticed, on your space, that Hati had posted a message. She's a great person! Actually, if I remember right, the first person I 'talked' to here.

Jazz!

Hope you found some cool stuff while out shopping. I'm trying to get a sense of various different people but their short posts and the emoticons confuse me. I'm still learning how to go to people's places, too.

Talk to you later,

J.

Whoooaaaaaaaa! Innundated with Smiley's and ... and other emoticons! My daughter who loves chat lines would be in Smiley Heaven.

I, on the other hand try to convince everyone a thousand words is worth a picture.

Oooo, and Belgian Chocolate, Jazz?

I just polished off a box of (glurp, oink!) Canadian Chocolates I bought myself when they were on sale after Christmas.

My favourite chocolates have to be Swiss or Dutch, though. I read a whole whack of stuff on how the cocoa farmers get cheated, though and it almost put me off chocolate forever.

Still, one mans being cheated is another man's fortunate income, so ... I had to rationalize this before I could nibble another nugget of choc-o-latte!

BTW, Jazz, thanks for finding this site! It's fun here!

Glad you like it, Jet, was sure I had a 'Good Thing!' to recommend, nice to know I was right smiley - winkeye.

About the smiley - choc, my preferance is the dark, or bittersweet, & after trying it from a few different countries, I think the German (as far as the most easily available) is about the best, IMHO - in that variety. Although, I did find some excellent Polish bittersweet, get this...at one of those Dollar Stores! I actually scooped up 10-12 bars of the stuff-at a $1 each, once I'd tried 1. In fact, I even did a side by side comparison, with a Lindt (Swiss) bittersweet bar...the Polish
- Baron - bar came out on top!

The reason I mentioned availability, regarding the German smiley - choc, is because we've got a German grocery in my neighbourhood. Roughly 35% of their merchandise is imported, right from crackers & cereals, on up. And, of course that includes about a dozen brands of chocolate! Another thing I've gotten in the habit of picking up, before Christmas are some of the German cookies, particularly, the Pfeffernuss (spice cookies - very much like a gingerbread), & Lebkuchen - very similar, but with an apricot filling & smiley - choc coating!

I'd better stop, I'm starting to drool on the keyboard, here smiley - winkeye. Bye!

is excellent with certain types of fondues, I've found but a bit strong for 'just eating'. My tastes run to the milk chocolate and I've come to appreciate white (not real) chocolate as with semi-sweet dark curls for a contrast.

You were talking about spice (peppery or pfeffer in German) cookies, but I recall a pepper chocolate cookies that is absolutely briliant. Cracked black pepper mixed in with the chocolate on a very light, VERY sweet vanilla biscuit.

I have been playing around elsewhere lately and yes, I've found all kinds of bargains int eloonies stores, amazing what people tend to consider 'cheap' product simply because it hasn't fallen prey to the advertising merry go round, eh?

SYL, Jazz.

Its easy enough Jet, just click on my nickname (at the top of this message), & on my page/space you'll find "add to friends list" in the righthand margin - just click & thats it!. And no, I certainly don't mind! Tell solman & everybody that I've been 'exiled' smiley - laugh. After the move to MyBC, the site wasn't (I tried repeatedly!) accepting my 'log in' info - I called tech. support, they said I should re-register smiley - erm...my first thought was 'sc**w this, I'm going on an extended vacation!' smiley - laugh
