Fred Dagg was an iconic kiwi comedic character* created in the 70s by the genius John Clarke (currently on loan to the Australians). His song "If it weren't for your gumboots, where would you be...?" would be known by just about every NZer over the age of 35.

I just found out recently that Clarke essentially plagarised (?) the song from Billy Connolly, who in turn adapted it from a traditional Scottish workers song.

I'll be good this time...
Posted Nov 9, 2006
If I disappear suddenly in the next few days it's because my latop is in getting looked at, and I'll be using a clunky old mac that might not go the distance.
But I promise not to do a runner and not post for 3 months like I did last year
Just to be on the safe side though, you could leave some juicy bribes lying about the place ...

Official part-timer

That's me
I've been here so infrequently lately, and I can't see this changing any time soon. I've been learning the art of how to contribute to conversations from the backlog (always wondered what that was like) instead of being current (that's me bringing up a point from (quite) a few days ago). Or if I get lucky I manage to find an interesting thread as it's being started (but then I'm likely to disappear).
I'm hardly in PR etc at the moment, which is interesting as that is where my focus was more and more when I was here more. But I do feel affected by the changes in the community side of things (although my part-timeness is also about RL 'distractions'), so the theory that community decline doesn't affect the EG doesn't add up for me personally.
Sorry to those who I owe a reply too - I wish I wasn't so crap at that.
The other thing about being part-time is that I can't remember enough smileys (would never forget that one though . Or that one or... ).
Hope you are all well, or at least having a fun/interesting time.
kea.

Full PS convo list back
Posted Jul 31, 2006
Jim Lynn posted in a thread the other day saying that we've got our full convo lists back (previously limited to 400 threads for the last half year).
Yaay for getting something rather than losing something in hootooland (particularly the community side). There's been too many losses this year, and I'm heartened that something can be fixed or returned.

Exciting nature thing...

No, no, no it's not badgers. It's this big fat mouse running my skirting boards. Someone jinxed me the other day. I'd not had any meeces all winter and then he asked me if I had. I said no, and now I have one
It's obviously a Bold Mouse, as I've got all the lights on and on its first evening here it's already done a couple of circuits of the room, plus now it's exploring the kitchen, making noise totally disproportionate to its size.
So tonight will be the first assault on the oatmeal and cornchips. I'll get to see if the cupboards in this house have holes in them. I'm trying to decide whether to go buy a trap or not I'm just really glad it's brown not white.
OK, so not that exciting really. Sorry.
