Calling all you teens from the 60s, here's someone I used to go weak at the knees over:

Then compare this track with some of her later music, from further on in what has been a pretty tragic life.

Now, for all existentialists and sidewalk cafe philosophers, the fabulous Juliette Greco (one of Jean-Paul Sartre's many mistresses) sings Les Feuilles Mortes. Sorry for the hum, but it's worth showing the translation of the original French poem by Jacques Prevert, later to be ruined and bowdlerised by the American 'Autumn Leaves' translation.

For my own tenuous connection with Jean-Paul Sartre, see my Home Page.

SORRY - the beautiful translation is on this one:

Where the translations disagree, the original one was right - rassembles rather than resembles. Brings us together. (assemble)
Unless our French members can make it clearer.

My taste in music is pretty eclectic, jazz, country, folk, blue grass, some pop - mainly 60s when I was a teenager - and a variety of classical. This track comes into the "goose-bumps" category. Don't be put off by the video, close your eyes, lie back and let the sound wash over you. I defy you to be untouched by it.

Very cool el - I like the ambience, I like the subject, I like the images, and Katherine Jenkins and Rhys Meirion do a cool job of the music.
Ellen - yours was cool too I don't see how they could have agreed gestures for all of those nonsense words....but having said that I did think I recognised 'mimsy', and one or two others, and I hope it's a way to help deaf people enjoy the poem - although reading it might be easier? I don't read sign language myself of course.
Thanks to both of you for brilliant posts -

Sung well, but

all right, Lu. It would be an ace for the Bad Poetry thread if it wasn't a song!

Great song, Infy. Try this:

It's very emotional - brings me close to tears sometimes. Sorry about the video jumping up and down and the red interjections.

Great song, Jab.
Here's another Cat Stevens one that puts a lump in my throat.
