Los Angeles is thought to be in store for a really *huge* one.

San Francisco has had some smaller ones that probably have forestalled a big one for the time being. The one that collapsed the upper level of the Nimitz freeway, crushing the lower level was the most recent biggish one. My brother used to drive along that freeway every day in the late 1960s.
