A hut in the middle of a firwood
In this hut lives the Pooka Fergus MacPhellimey. He has been described by Flann O'Brien, a member of the author class, as 'a species of human Irish devil endowed with magical powers'. His wind-pipe rapidly creates vowels and counsonants in even numbers as he thinks aloud.Content of resulting vocalisations:
I have been temporarily lent to a reader of 'At Swim-Two-Birds' to be utilized as a disguise in a masqué. What an extraordinary situation for an individual dedicated to parity. Counting the author, the reader and myself, I fear we have to conclude to an odd number. Whone shall I find to fultell the tale?
Trying to avoid this unpleasant question, but nevertheless to occupy his mind, the Pooka silently undertakes to relate the old story of king Sweeny's curse and his madman's flight.
Information for the benefit of Aces and other Good Fairies:
This is the new identity of an old researcher, and it is therefore unnecessary to spend time welcoming it. It was only created for the masqué at Lil's Atelier.
