Of course it´s about being German! The Angles, the Saxons, the Vikings, the Normans...any virile male available over there is of our good meadswilling eviltempered stubborn reliably stubborn stock!
You allowed us to conquer, you still allow us to woo - live with what you bought.

OK, allow me to translate into German engineer mantality.
# You spend half a day cooking something I gobble down within two minutes.
# When it´s done I´m on the phone, trying to find the money for tomorrow´s feast.
# I ought, to show I appreciate, build an oven that allows you to do it in half the time. This will of course mean I won´t be in talking mode for three months and wreck half the house trying.
# Your fault. You cooked a meal and I can´t help stumbling into a typically female mantrap.

Oh, Pit!!!!
Such Teutonic insight leaves me helpless....which is possibly what they want; mais non! je suis MOI!
I have left instant spaghetti & clean pans & instructed the frog volunteer not to starve & leave P to fester, sent P an email explaining why i am Not Particularly Happy Right Now & if He wishes to digest this & reply, i will respond (in my own good time)
Meanwhile, David Bowie 'Under pressure'
will probably get me through...plus 'you lot, of course!!!!!!

Instant spaghetti are . Men can survive for infinite periods of time. Clean pans might frighten them, but won´t stay clean, so that´s not a problem either.

Ja, think they will survive, i am staying out of it, no known instances of animals or males voluntarily starving to death when food is available....
Are you going to t(he German Meet,Pit?

Pit, fûr das; if geld is a major problem; email me or P...we don't have much, but it's worth it to have a break to think with other fiends.
Extract from his last email to me:
*- I cannot think straight now - but if you (or may be a bright outsider?) have an idea, I would be all to happy to hear about it.
Peter*
So: he has support of 'you lot'
But maybe needs Personal Space away from me, which i can relate to...i haven't made cheesebox in a year, can't play bass any more 'cos it got stolen; cigs & booze are the alternatives, but incredibly expensive here.
So: Bright Outsiders: apply now PLEASE!!!!

Terri, I have a vaguely similar problem in my family circle and I can only say give him space and stay cool. Wait for him to come out of the doldrums he seems to be in. He sounds worth the effort if that's what you decide.
I hope I can take my own advice and learn to keep my thoughts, feelings to myself.

Yep, give him all the space he needs if he's going to snap at you otherwise. Be content with yourself. Don't let him drag you down into whatever hole he's in. If you can be cheerful it may deflate his tantrums. Don't let your mood be predicated by his.
Other people have power over our emotions only when we allow them to.
It's an obvious truth, but it is so easy to think otherwise.

Yes, Webbie, maybe i have the same syndrome: i tend to react immediately, but it's over (for me) very quickly; i never cancel the love aspect, i am simply p'd off with the situation.
So, for me, to get what appears to be total rejection, is extremely scary & makes me wary of believing *anything* said or done previously was false.
He IS a very caring; loving person; i do feel the relationship is worth working at, but feel i am tiptoeing on eggshells...& i love him enough to leave, if that's what he needs, but i also love him enough to not abandon him in distress.
Sometimes i wonder if i love too much, most folk seem fairly immune to others pain, & their own.
Jeez, i wish i had my bass guitar!!!!!

<> a sign of insecurity - I fell prey to years ago but you grow out of it in a secure relationship - eventually. In order to hold on to someone you have to let go. The same with children, and a very hard lesson to learn.

Yes, indeed, Webbie, wise words.
I think *maybe*i am never sure what is a 'secure relationship' & neither is he; we've both been badly hurt in the past by trusting people who let us down; which tends to make you doubtfull of your own capability of judging a persons *real character*, depth of feeling etc...

It would be a shame to let past experiences jeopardise what looked like being a lovely relationship. It is hard to trust again but you need to. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Maybe I was just lucky but you have to be willing to take a risk.

A secure relationship is when you wake up in the morning and have not been strangled in your sleep. All of us here seem to have a perfect track record. OK, I´m male and German, so I ought to expect worse.

Ah, German & male = "when we do it, we do it Right!"
French & male = "when we do it, we get it wrong & cry"
British & male = "when we do it, we keep a Stiff Upper lip"
Irish & male = "when we do it, we think of Guiness & hope for babies"
Thankfully; i am a mongrel & female!!!!!
