EYE DUNNO!!!
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Oct 19, 2005
I've never had a dog since I was a little baby- I am fiercely allergic. I prefer living in apartments, anyway, which isn't conducive to happy dogs, so it's probably for the best.
I've had nearly every other kind of demoesticated animal as a pet (barring livestock- my father assured me we were not zoned for livestock) over the course of my lifetime, though.
Teaching a to mind, now there's a trick! We had to shut the bedroom door last night to keep Herman from jumping all over us (and saying "no!" or plopping him on the floor is all part of the game, it would seem), and at around 4:00 AM I awoke to paws slipping under the door and rattling it, so I gave up and let him back in... at which point he horked an enormous hairball up on the blanket. Talk about passive agressive.
We completely ignored his wailing for attention this morning, so he sulked in his favorite chair, hanging over the arm in this way he does. It makes him look like he's being seasick.

He didn't bring the bunny for dinner did he?
I haven't received any photos as of yet... but I remember the last time, it took quite a while. I'll let you know tomorrow if I still haven't seen them. Thank you for sending them!
I *will* have photos of the flat, and Herman, up soon. K wants to wait (once again) till he's had a haircut. Sigh!

Saw the photos, and he is a lovely dog! I'd forgotten what breed(s) he was. What a gorgeous little (little-ha!) guy!!

Tsk tsk, he is a fully accredited Large Beige Mutt. Many folks have suggested there is a touch of Great Dane in there; which i suppose is an improvement on Not So Great Viking, mummy is a Belgian Shepherd, papa is sorta Large Black Shaggy Mutt.
I will get pics off to the rest of you ASAP, my email thingy seems to sulk if i send to more than 4 at once.
Hootoo is being a pig yet again for me, so hope this posts.

I love his face Terri!
He is huge and his ears are fine!
I think they will add a lot of character.
I bet he will be skinny for a long time.
His face colors are that of a great dane or mastiff.
Hard to say what body shape he will have though I imagine more slender than muscular.
EYE DUNNO!!!
zendevil Posted Oct 20, 2005
His ears are like a church steeple on top of his head! Yes, the colouring is dane/mastiff type.
He is very solid but slender; but he isn't a greedy type, he much prefers a walk or game to eating. Very strong though, even now i can only just win a tug of war game! He was one of the smaller pups in the litter of 9, the biggies were the black ones.
Gawd, he is protective as hell though, just now took him out for pee & skinhead type guy appeared (in fact not acting threateningly, but it was a surprise) & oh dear me; skanky barked & growled....i think he isn't seen as "aww, what a cute little puppy" any more! (but of course he is really!)
Not feeling well, i seem to have flu type thing, very sore throat, swollen glands, sticky eyes, blocked nose, fever/chills
But *if* it's flu, i would much rather get it out of the way now than when the bird flu thing hits, so hopefully i have natural immunity 'cos i can't have flu jab; NAG to those of you who can to DO SO NOW again; it looks so likely this is going to be a pandemic, with the luck the world has had this year, don't take chances my friends!

I'm waiting to see loads of sparrows with tissues waiting in line for a doctors appointment

Skankyrich [?] Posted Oct 20, 2005
If bird flu mutates into a form that humans can catch, having the regular flu jab won't help. There is no vaccine available for the H5N1 strain, which is most likely to make the leap from birds to humans. So far it has affected only people who have close contact with birds, which suggests it will actually make the leap at some point.
The fear is that we will be exposed to a disease that our bodies have not developed defences against. The fact that it has leapt species in a handful of cases suggests that it will at some point. A pandemic will be something we are totally unprepared for physically and medically; we just have to hope that the big medical companies, on discovering a vaccine, will share it cheaply and efficiently around the population with total disregard for their shareholders.

'Andrew Lansley, the Shadow Health Secretary, said better plans should have been put in place before now.
He said: "The UK Government's plan may be better than many other countries, but it has been slow off the mark and delivery of key elements has not even begun." '
The 'key element' being a vaccine or cure that might work.

the worst part is, that even a pandemic, there will be a profit some where along the line for someone
EYE DUNNO!!!
zendevil Posted Oct 20, 2005
Yup, i just read that too. France has stockpiled enough "normal" flu vaccine for the entire population ages back, rather than the 25% UK seems to have decided is enough (probably politicians, those involved in reality Tv programmes & royalty)
Anyway, for now skankyman, i would advise against with any birds you happen to pick up whilst doing tammylan stuff!
