Yes! Soon s my beast has "done its thing" i will gaze upon your lovely new place with enormous pleasure!
meanwhile: general "All Apologies"; please; my fiends & woohs, don't think i have abandoned you or let loose some sort of troll on MSN. It's very very difficult to explain, Dubman is new to the internet & it may seem like i've unleashed a frankenstein! That is entirely *not* the case; he is an incredibly fast learner, but English isn't his 1st languuage, *plus*, much more important, he is very very direct & honest, which can come across as being brutal...in fact, it's exactly the opposite,he sincerely wants to communicate & if he can; offer his own life experience & create dialogue "We are all in this together"
Sometimes this backfires.
Plus we are both fighting for posession of one beast, which is still sick & connexion is so slow, i wish to smash the thing to bits, he's saying "be zen".....it's rather hard to be zen when someone is telling you to do so, this is a steep learning curve, but i am sure will be a positive one. So please bear with me.
meanwhile, 3 new visitors for BD festival, 2 German guys, 1 french guy. they have been told in English "OK, fine, you are attic people, you eat here, we all do our thing, i give food, you pay for it, it's a commune! ust damn well let me know how many & when & eater or not!
This is a balancing act, please continue to be my safety net while i walk the high wire.

Hmm... well, right now it's probably a fairly boring domestic scene, as found all over the world. The film "Braveheart" has been on TV & obviously Dubman has been getting well into all the gory battle stuff; me, i just keep turning round to watch the soppy bits & squeal & turn away when the swords start flashing. Lots of nice longhaired Celts though We eventually got round to eating; 'tis a moveable feast on this house!
So now it's chill out time with Burning Spear (merci PC!)& about to see who is lurking around on MSN for a chat.....any takers?
Yoda has decided she "may" forgive the kidnapping of Her Chair at times; so long as she is allowed to kidnap his jacket in return.
I can still recieve emails at zendevil addy, but 'im no let me reply yet!
What are the rest of you up to?

Braveheart, Terri? I take it you don't have a DVD player and are stuck watching whatever's on? Poor you.
I'm off work again today, for Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. I've managed to get a load of laundry done. Otherwise, I've mostly farted around. I really should get my floors washed and get it over with...

I have seen Braveheart and I do not like the gory bits and prefer the romantic parts. I have actually seen a man dressed like Braveheart and that was some sort of display/demonstration that I saw looking out of train somewhere in central Scotland. I wonder if it is true what they say about Scotsman and kilts. There is even an old joke that haggis is hunted for and you need a special license and a gun to shoot them. It is very windy but not as wet as it is in Northern England.

Welcome, hazeleyes to the madness that is the Eye thread, all contributions gladly accepted, topic drift rules & you are allowed, nay, encouraged to let off, rant (within House Rules), jump for joy, swoon or do whatever you want. Descriptions of everyday life are particularly soothing to others who may be in states of murderous rage etc. Discussions regarding pets are very therapeutic too.
*waves to jazz & PC*....PC, i sent you an email today, the Bloody Beast now lets me send, recieve, but not delete or reply, but i can write a new message...Lil, got your text & sent an email; i can't fathom this new mobile.
Right; here's an everyday tale of frustration; wonder how many of you would react the same or is it just me?
*I have a leg problem; find stairs difficult, so my "system" to reduce stair climbing is, i leave whatever needs to go upstairs in a bag on the stairs & whoever is around going up, dumps it in the atelier ( studio: aka junk room) & i sort it later; it is MY organised chaos. Likewise; stuff from up that needs to come down gets left at the top of the stairs, or if it's small, put into a plastic bag & hung on the door handle.
This seems perfectly logical to me. I have explained the system to every visitor i've ever had here & all have been fine. But tonight Dubman , who has a foot problem similar to my leg problem, rushed off quick to the loo upstairs. We'd had a great day together, we've had lots of fun & stuff & etc.
So he comes stomping downstairs:
"You are trying to kill me?"
"What?????"
" You know i have a foot problem; why are you trying to make me go back to hospital?"
*Utter, total bafflement at zendevil end;the guy doesn't even have the excuse of not squeaking English.*
"What on earth are you on about?"
"the plastic bag."
""
Meanwhile he is hopping around clutching his foot; eventually i get some sort of sense out of him. I had hung a very small plastic bag of postcards on the door handle upstairs & apparently he fell over whilst shutting the door handle.
My response was :
"Look, i am really sorry about that, but that is my system, which you've been told about previously, i have mobility problems too; you learn to look first before you move, never in a million years would i deliberately design a trap for you or indeed anyone *but* it's My House, My System, so "when in Rome...er, look out for stray gladiators?!"
He is more French than he cares to admit to, sorry to appear racist; i am not, as "you lot" know very well, but the "hysterical man" trick is just not on, i just go into Celtic Woman Witch mode & explode.
"Look, if i came to your place & fell over something, it's MY fault 'cos i wasn't observant enough"
"You must change your system, you must think of me & my foot"
"Like as Biggery will i change my system, sod this, i'm off for a walk round the block"
"Don't lock the door!"
"Obviously not. Don't let the out"
Quick chat with the dustbin men, quick hello to a lady who is a member/ victim of the "non fumeurs club" & Voila! There is Dubman
"Where have you been, i was worried!"
"I have been fuming."
"Ok, see you soon."
"yes."
"Get over it!"
In my book, this sort of stuff just really isn't worth the use of oxygen. It's certainly not worth losing a good fiend for, but No Bloody Way does anybody tell Me how to run My House. I've got 8 strangers arriving to stay in a couple of day's time, they get told the system, they cope with it or they find another place to stay.
Am i being unreasonable, belligerent, nasty, control freak or what? I believe in discussion & compromise, but i am fiercely Territorial.
Braveheart, indeed. Last word he squoke was "Liberty!" (I wear an old French coin round my neck with the original French phrase "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité)
*Rant over; your viewpoints please, if you wish. Oh, & i cleaned the cooker really well today, also i found an abandoned heather plant, which i have watered & potted up alongside some daffodil bulbs. And made a pie. Next stage: sort the plastic tubs out!*

Ah opinions...
I think he got scared, is all, and fought the fright off with anger, and then could not easily admit that scare was behind it all, so kept at the anger angle.
What to do? Leave it. He should come to his senses.

Yes, I think Milla's right Terri...just an initial flare-up or anger response, it should subside.

My opinion? You both over-reacted. It's YOUR home and of course you set the "systems", and anyone who wants to hang out has to adapt. Same as at my home- take your shoes off on the landing, put the toilet lid down when you're done. But I suppose he was also reacting more to the pain of hurting his foot than any frustration with your system. Once the pain subsides, he'll realize it was silly to become so angry about it.
But... it's not like you, I, or anyone else has never gotten that annoyed before when things didn't go as we're used to. I think you're right to put your foot down about the program in your home... but I think he's only human.

Thank you, my woohs. I think mainly the thing is it's just going faster than either of us really want, we both need "Personal Space"; thank goodness we only live around the corner.
I've calmed down now, i needed to be alone with "you lot"; it's my "downtime" if you like. I've sent him a postcard, so he doesn't think "oh Sihte, what went wrong last night?"; his light is off, so hopefully he's asleep. It doesn't help that both of us are great at preparing meals for other people but totally useless at actually eating them ourselves: combination of traditional Arab & Celtic hospitality towards guests thing i suppose. (The cultural links are very big & i doubt i could explain: too many stereotypes abound; i'll have a go if anyone if interested though!)
He is a very strong person & so am i; no way on earth do i go for easy-peasy people! Don't want or need a dependent,,i can buy a kitten or adopt an orphan. Obviously neither does he; and i definitely get told by many folks here i am "chionte" ie: stubborn, determined; a pain in the ass; but somehow loveable....ths i accept; it's my nature & also my defence. Plus i will never give 100% of myself to anyone, if they get 95, they are doing well, yet i expect 100% from them.
At the end of the day, it boils down to "I do not wish to hurt anyone, anything, but i refuse to be sitH upon" i guess. And i will fight my fiends corner to the death; if they need that. I don't know, maybe you have to have a Celtic mentality to understand the fierceness?
*Opinions from around the world welcomed please*

If someone serves you food, eat. It's a gift to you, and if not accepted, will hurt the giver.
Oh. Not that kind of opinion? Then I don't know.
