So, I recently started trying my hand at pottery again. Only problem was that there wasn't any clay to work with after I made myself a soap dish. So, I've been putting glazes on some of the weaker things I'd made before I went into that unfortunate period up to about year ago that began post Suz saving herself and post my feeling I had to drop the Access Course where all I really achieved was not physically killing myself but making changes in myself and my behaviour that were driven by some the irrational values that syptomatic of my BPD and depression and allowing apathy to get between myself and using some aspects of BPD that can be used positively and all in wasting time and chances and generally becoming something of a dull boy. Losing my sense of fun and that part of my humour that was quite distinctive to me as I recall, I don't know it seems so far away, certainly not as quick witted as i was, not that I saw myself as terribly quick or witty, when I'm with Tim and Loz's tribe the speed and skill of both Tim and Matty at getting in with excruciatingly quick wit makes me feel terribly inadequate. Losing my flirtatiousness. I've lost so much knowledge too. My willingness to experiment and try new things went for good while. And I lost alot my passion, anger and hate too and views and values, it's hard to explain why i don't see that as such an explicitly good thing.
Anyway this turning rambling whine.
It the coming weeks I hope to making some things from clay and I is looking for requests and/or inspiration.
Don't get your hopes up for anything made with any degree of skill or artistry. Just expect a useless lump of cooked sediment to clutter up the place or throw in the bin.

I have made ashtrays in the past with some degree of success.
Any preferences for shape or further design specifications?

OOOOhhhhh! Lovely little pots that hold bits & bobs! In weird & wonderful shapes & colours & glazes!
To my intense shame, i just can't "do" pottery, though i admire it greatly. It's weird; i can do sticky glue, but i just can't cope with mud stuff.
Great that you are finding yourself again.
These things go through phases i reckon. Just started doing my cheeseboxes again after a *very* long time of sulking/reflection stuff.

Gargoyles! And sugarbowls with spikes. And freaky animals. Face masks with strange decorations. Weird mugs for interesting beverages.
I want to play with pottery too.

Candlesticks? Or recepticles to put tea lights in?
Or useful pots to put Things into
Or heads with holes at the top where you can put flowers, or fill up the hole with compost and plant seeds?

I like Gargoyles....
... And dragons though the wings are tricky...
.. I am also a fan of random bowly-shaped-things with or without handles and lids... And glazing is always lots of fun
Have a fun and inspiring time.
Do you do Raku?

Are these all requests or just brainstorming?
I can do an ashtray for Hati.
I can do a random pot or two for Terri and Robyn.
I can do a bondage sugar bowl for Milla.
I can do something for tea lights for Evadne.
I do own two Gargoyles one of which you can see here sitting on the back of my couch: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=764470312&size=s&context=set-72157600873782023
I apologise for the 60's wallpaper which I still haven't dealt with.
However, I didn't make him as that's bit beyond me, for the now at least, but it should be fun to give it a go sometime on smaller scale that Gregory there, (named for Cain's gargoyle in The Sandman).
I've only tried doing a candlestick once... it ended up as an a random bowly-shaped thing, without a handle or a lid.
No, I don't do Raku, don't have my own kiln. And, I'm no artist, just someone who finds going to a pottery group once a week enjoyable and relaxing.

Dont be silly, Everyone's an artist Just with varying degrees of understanding public
I was trying to inspire only. One of my favourite effects is the 'water' effect... Clear glass and copper powder in the bottom of a bowl when you do the final firing... You get lovely clear and blue effect... I made a castle and it had a slightly 'waterfall'y moat... (way back in my school daze) but it can make a lovely bottom for ashtrays and such because of the smooth hard glass finish...
I really enjoyed making a greek-style amphora when I was at school too... It was so pretty!

Come on! You wanted inspiration, not gift requests! For gifts, I require only the most artistic, and elaborate designs, not suitable for recreational creativity. Pah. You should know!
Now, all I wanted is to sprout some silly ideas to get your brain in gear and DO something rather than stare at a lump of clay and be mean to yourself for having a potters block.
Off you go to clay class, and have FUN, you!
