Midsummer is June 22nd, so if you don't mind other researchers, you are most welcome then!smiley - kiss

Otherwise, all I know for certain is that we are on Öland, July 7-21.

Well I'd like to make the most of this excuse to go to Sweden, without getting in the way, being nuisense, outstaying my welcome or otherwise doing anything annoying, rude or that is asking too much.
Thusly if you could put dates on what isn't asking too much, I can think about whether I would want or need to look for backpacker's hostels.
The earliest I could fly out would be the 19th. Now, my turning up at your's that far in advance, I could guess, mightn't be so good for you, yes?

You'd only have to entertain yourself while we are at work, not a problem for us, and I could get guidebooks about Lund. Over the weekend, we're free, and might go to places by car... Don't fret! We loves company! (If we survive repeated many-night stays of inlaws, I can't see you as a problem smiley - laugh) And you can entertain the cat too.

So, if I arrived on the morning of the 19th [around 9:30] and left on the morning of the 29th about the same time would that be acceptable?

Sorry, missed this post earlier. Yeah - again, you're mostly on your own on work days, but it should be fine, I hope?

I'm a little low, but it could be worse. There was a career day yesterday, but I thought it would be today, so went to tango class as usual. (Which was great, but still...) I really should have gone. I need info about working in Denmark. Rules, taxes, regulation, salary levels, working hours... the works...
And I don't feel like working today.

Hey there... smiley - hug

Aye, that's fine.
I'm sure there must be some soothing or distracting place/thing to do.

Have you had any luck on the researching Denmark?
I'm glad you enjoyed the tango. I hope you're feeling brighter now. smiley - cuddle
No there's a thing it might possible to do, use Sweden as easy jumping off point to take a look at Denmark.

It is generally nicer... And Copenhagen is really nice!

No answers from Denmark yet - not even 'Got your mail'.

I just got the 'Got your application, we'll get in touch when we've read all the applications' mail from DK.

All's well, I hope the same for you!

I'm not sure that I can come now. It's my own fault I should have been brave enough to settle dates and face organisation earlier.
From the day I selected dates to the day when it came trying to buy ticket the price rose by 40 quid and now it seems to have doubled again, looking at the latest.

The alternative to flying is a 24 hour coach trip. Which is a more reasonable expenditure, but still 70 quid more than that fare taxes.
A 24hr journey seems not a little masochistic though.

I keep mentioning price because I haven't been responsible with my money this year and I have to renew my DLA soon and if I lose my DLA that'll halve my monthly income.

I'm sorry I just can't be relied upon for anything.

smiley - cuddle Don't worry.

I suppose you have looked at ryan air from stanstead? They're the cheapest, as far as I know, and land in Malmö. I realise it's a bit from Haywards heath, but still...

I understand about short of money - since student days, and having a brother on 'disability / sick pension' or what the term might be. And I too have been avoiding to plan for trips, I still have no arrangements final for a trip to Stockholm w. parents on the 21st. And London the 28 is a mystery...

What airports have you looked at?

If a last minute discount comes up, you're still welcome smiley - hug. I still think the Nordic midsummer meet will go ahead, but it's a bunch of people to whom 'plan' is a four letter word. Some faint at the mere thought of it...

Yes, you can suppose that. When I looked last night Ryanair.com were asking about £180 (IIRC). Now they're down to £85.
If I'd been quicker, travel to and from Sweden was looking to be less than £70 including train (to Gatwick), coach (Gatwick to Stanstead), flight fares and airport taxes.
Things seemed to be spiraling.
24 hours is a very long time to be on a coach with restricted movement.
I also looked at Heathrow to Copehagen, then getting the train from Copenhagen Central to Malmo.
I will keep looking, but the DLA renewal has me worried.

What is DLA?

I could pick you up from Malmö, or copenhagen even. Depends on arrival time...
Take your time, I don't need fast decisions.smiley - hug

Disability Living Allowance. I said losing it would halve my income. I meant it would reduce it by a third. I don't get *that* much DLA.
DLA is the money one is legally entitled to assist with the additional costs of disability if you have problems with mobility or personal care due to physical or mental health problems. But, you aren't obliged to spend it on carers but can instead spend it on having a life, something that incapacity benefit alone doesn't really extend to.

What kind of time windows would be OK?

Is there a strategy for Ryanair? Do prices go down again at the last minute as they try to fill empty seats? At the moment they only seem to be rising overall.
