Music hath charms to soothe the savage...er at that point i never know if it's beast or breast, either way seems Ok, but i think it's Shakespeare; whatever, is the ultimate sanctuary and uplifter of spirits for me.

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."

Nice collection of quotes! Here's another Plato that always makes me wonder:
"Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul... Musical innovation is full of danger to the state, for when modes of music change, the laws of the state always change with them."
Plato

no, not weird, dementia attacks early memories first and works back.
To remember the songs, was something to hold on to and that is great, respect for your mam, from me

Yes that is great Sal...& I'd think the accumulation of holiday seasons over the years made those memomries much stronger & spedial to her - but that's just my opinion. And yes as Animal said my respest for the woman.
I seem to vaguely remember that one Animal.*scrstches head*Might've been The Damned or one of those Punk bands.
Hmm interesting quote there hstwrd, gets one wondering just how much effect changing musical styles & the accompanying attitudes have on politics - at a societal level.

I just love music for the 60s & 70s, as that was the time I was a young teenager! A lot of the songs have memroies for me, as I struggled to cope with growing up
I must admit though it was really good music! It must have been, as the kids of today are lapping it up
They started to use it to sell jeans, then my daughter was gobsmacked to find that I did indeed have that record! (Ah! yes, a record, I had to show her what it was) Yep! a round flat piece of vynil
Smudger,

Yes some great music from those 2 decades Smucger! Can't argue that & even though I was just goin' into my teens in 67-68, I had quite a record collection. In fact I got a great John Mayall record that's since been released on CD.

I like that arrietty42! Not all musician's have that kind of commitment. It's a real shame John was taken from us the way he was.
