Attempt to keep US in line
Posted Feb 6, 2003
"THE HAGUE, Netherlands (Feb. 5) - The United States must temporarily stay the execution of three Mexican citizens on death row in Texas and Oklahoma, the World Court ruled Wednesday"
This is great news to me. The president of Mexico was very upset about the last 2 executions of this type, without the legal representation allowed for and encouraged.
I will be very interested to see the official US response. In the above mentioned article, they admit that there is NO REAL power over the US decisions. It is about time someone tried. We are ignoring some basic legal rights that are assumed to be afforded all.

twinny news YAY!
Posted Feb 4, 2003
Yay! YAY! Twinny got a letter from the judge! Yeah rah! Now.....60 days to go before all is official! All should go through now! I talked to her tonight. She has been very sick. I should not be surprized any more but she has had the same infection that I do. I did not know that, certainly felt she was doing worse.I was about ready to pop I needed to hear her voice at least. Some one was nice enough to lend her a phone so she called, I called her back. Ahh relief. Sweet relief , finally.

We either make ourselves happy or miserable. The amount of work is the same.

Worlds "other" problems

"To the extent that we have a world in surprise after surprise indicates there's something lacking in our general world order."
In his comments at the United Nations in January, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan "Nations working together can make a difference. Nations upholding the rule of law can advance the cause of a fairer world," he said. "Yes, the world is a messy place. But the instruments are there to deal with these problems."

Excellant article about the "other" conflicts.

boring whine about more of the same
Posted Jan 31, 2003
No word from sis. I cannot stand it. I hope the government does not draw a line and throw her on the other side! I do not know what she is running on now. I know she is very depressed.
I do not understand Dubyas New Health proposal. It is nothing more than has been available for many years. You can join an HMO or stay with medicare. Joining an HMO does not guarantee more help or RX benefits. Many companies cut that benefit last year. The pharmacuetical co. say our meds cost more because we help other nations with their health needs and research costs . The generics are going up in price. The gov is thinking of enforcing the law reguarding people going to Canada where there is 40-60% less cost than the US. They are taking these few options away. Most of the states are in trouble financially. States pay a % of the federal monies for medicare recipients. I see another administration talking, doing nothing.
After doing 2 root canals and 2 crowns I am going to loose 2 more teeth The infection in my jaw is not better. No dentist knows why this is happening. I still think the lightning may have done it, although they say it would not. I have read accounts of other strike victims that ended up loosing teeth for no apparent reason. If the tooth looks OK why would it crack and start a process of no return? They did not go bad first, then crack ,as is normal.
My doc seems pleased that I am doing less. I am happier doing more. It makes for a roller coaster. If I do less it is more physically comfy ,but mundane & I feel too useless. *still looking for the right new balance*
