opening up rocketwoman
Posted Oct 29, 2002
Hi. I am a klutsy Rocket Woman,I am up and running only to go crashing to the ground quite frequently. Up in flash and down in a flash.I lack endurance. I have brain and spinal cord damage. I was hit by lightning (and a tree amoung various other odd mishaps with my head/ body) in my 20's camping in the mountains.Camping is now beyond me. I still love thunderstorms and trees! I just came back from a northern California trip to see the giant sequioas and redwood trees. What a thrill, I finally made it! I always thought ;if I were rich, (and healthy)I would travel & educate myself in any and all areas of interest. I worked in the medical feild until physically overwhelmed. The "worker bee" in me misses it. I do not miss the traffic or the pantyhose! If my disability has a gift with it,it's having time to study (informally)whatever I wanted. As a kid, when all the young girls in my hometown were old enough to take the bus downtown alone ---it was for shopping.I took it to go to the biggest library I'd ever seen.I would rather go anywhere but shopping, the library is still a good pick.I've lived in several families and went to many types of churches.I was born into a family of 11 children.Us siblings refer to BIO-MOM as the human incubator. The incubator had 5 kids, gave them up for a fresh start---had 5 more kids, gave them up---had one more, gave him up.???The family incubator will always mystery! I have been uniquely comfy and poor, oldest and youngest, an only child and the 7th originally. You come into the world alone and leave it alone. If you can develope and hang onto your integrity, priorities and make a positive contribution, to even one other life you are a success. While spititual, I personally find organized religions taken to their extremes become absurd.I have no problem accepting religion in others and am curious about all things. All religions have a worthwhile beauty to be aknowledged. In addition to spirituality ,I would not have survived without curiosity, imagination and humor. At this particular challenging time, I have lost my "typical daily life" do to health problems. I hated and resented losing the human-doing part, I am just a human being now.I am also quite attracted to logic. I am not sure how to start this journal. Here's a sample of current questions swirlling in my tiny, brain damaged redhaired half a century head. 1)Maybe I missed it. How come the bible does not speak harshly to the issue of slavery? 2)how come a pipelines cannot be in place to run from typical flooding rivers to nearby small reservoirs ? 3) How come i cannot figure out how to make colums on this page? grrrrrr. 4)How about a thread with old sayings? Not scolarly famous quotes, but old folksy ones heard around the house. 5)why don't all nations fly a world flag? Only huge business (which tend to pollute)and some enviromentalists are into global thinking. 6) why keep so much $ going towards exploring space ,without having explored our oceans? 7) why are people surprised that a rich man whom failed repeatedly in business, is now a US president ignoring the economy? Well er, uh ,Unless it concerns oil. 8)Last but not least: Am I too brain damaged or old to ask fun, new,or interesting questions? That's enough of a start. All are welcome. Tell me what you think ,or just say HI.
