More syncrinicity,
such tears of sorrow and joy,
It seems like a cosmic ploy. May Day! May Day!
Hubby finally had *the* bad experience shopping.
Hubby was in the grocery and repeatedly passes a woman that has a personal problem which she is blaming and passing onto her child.
He does not see her hitting him but thinks he hears it.
After several passes doing the shopping.
They are on the same isle again.
Hubby sees the child grab a container of cottage cheese at his mothers request.
He drops it and it spews.
His Mother hits him.
She Hits him again.
Hubby says stop that and grabs her arms.
She screams SECURITY!
They come.
She says he hurt me, he grabbed me!
An elderly couple watching with tears in their eyes and the store baker behind the counter silently nod in agreement at the story hubby relays.
They take the lady and child to the back room.
The elderly couple and baker are relieved.
Hubby was afraid for a moment he would be arrested!
(hopes it is on tape)
When hubby got home and told me
I hugged himand said thank-you.
I thanked God for the opportunity to love this person.
********************
Then I asked him-
Did you say it was cottage cheese?
Yes he replied.
*awe*
My brother died on this day at the hands of his parents.
He was said to have refused to eat his cottage cheese and that was a big problem for his mother.
Does this experience of mine make anybody elses hair stand up?
Mine still is, an hour later!
RIP Dear Larry
It is also my recently departed Boggies birthday

I think that some people who shouldn't be parents have to be parents because they effect many people, providing us all with lessons.

I don't know what to say, Abbi. That is amazing. And eerie.
Your husband sounds like a wonderful man. And thank heavens he stood up for the child. I hope the store manager turns the woman's name in to the proper authorities so they can follow up on it and try to keep her from doing serious damage to the child at home.

I was left speechless because I hadn't previously known that 'detail' about your brother.
No, I don't think it's a case that some people shouldn't be allowed to be parents. Perhaps I say that selfishly otherwise I'd not be here myself (my parents would never have passed any sort of test).
How old was Larry? Goddamn it that is just so bl**dy sad and horrible.
Speachless again.

eerie, very eerie. Coincidence can be scary and surprising at times. for those who are lost to you abbi, remember them with love.
As for hubby, well done that man, to speak up in our laissez faire society took some guts. Well done again, have a in congratulations.
People who have to resort to beating their child to exert discipline to that extent and for something so minor are bad parents. I have never felt the need to hit Megan, and I hope I never do, she has learned to react to the tone of my voice, and that is all the discipline she needs. Why other people have to hit minors I shall never understand.

So sorry to hear about your brother abbi, in light of the circumstances regarding his death. Every once in awhile life brings those coincidental situations (your hubby/the store/cottage cheese) around to show us...I'm not totally sure what? Give your hubby an appreciative pat on the back from me & a celebratory or
. He did the right thing, where so many people would've let it slide.

Re: some people shouldn't be parents.
I really think that some should, because then the kids may learn what they don't want to do with their time on earth. Neighbors may learn that too. And people in the school realm. All of us have a huge effect.

Oh, abbi - what can I say? Your husband sounds like a wonderful person. I am so sorry about your brother...

Thank-you Abbi for the story (it made my hair stand on end too!). One of the things I love about your presence here is your capacity to take the darkest of human experience and speak not only truth about it, but hope and compassion. I love how much you honour the grief and the *awe*.
I think you and your husband so deserve each other .

Sorry smudgerHate to push others onto unwanted memories.
I worry after the fact,if my post will be too upsetting.
Feel free to purge through email if it would help.
I could have put a warningI guess I have at times.
I am so used to incuding the good, bad and ugly of RLas it comes up.
I can see it maybe a bit alarming or an unwanted mood adjustment to others. I hope you bounce back and no harm was done to others.

Hubby has been the best person for me where it really counts, trust and how you treat others. He makes me laugh too so he is a keeper!
I feel I need to say he is a lovable slob, just so you know he is not perfect and I am not delusional!
Tonsils revenges name also currently bothersome to the lazy typing me =egnever slisnot Hmm that is a tough one, maybe I'll stick with TR.

az Larry was 5 and half. He has a living twin.
Or I assume he still does. I have not found him yet
We were going to be going to school together the following fall.
I was very excited because I had not been allowed to play with them as much as I had been doing. They lived a few houses down from my new family.
Larry had been badly mistreated for months, I think the mother could not deny that he had some major developmental problems and might never catch up to his twin. She was a terribly abused woman. The severity of abuse increased over a period of months. The other twin was not mistreated in the same way as far as we know. He was present and a silent witness which can be as damaging.
The neighbors and people walking by the house knew things were not right. I did too. I was not welcomed back to their home as readily once I had refused to eat my cottage cheese while visiting there, it infuriated her. After that there were excuses why it was not a good time for me to go play.

Hi abbi! I also would like to know how old your brother was when that happened.
I got beat quite a few times as a kid (primarily by schoolteachers) and I quite hated the experience. But it was never really that bad. No bones broken at least.
Key: Complain about this post
