Terri and all she went home last night.
She is pretty confused and forgetful and has lots of therapy scheduled. They live right across the street from the hospitalsmiley - ok
which makes it easy.

Tomorrow we see the sister that has been there and is probably the best judge of how she is doing. Hubby heads there on Thursday to spend a few days.

Still sending out prayers and good wishes and vibes abbi! I hope she wasn't affected to bad and that she recovers as well as possible. I'm happy she's home now at least and I hope the therapy and so on goes well. She's fortunate to have many people caring for her.

Thanks jaZZ, PC and Willem.
She is doing well at home and is expected to improve noticeably over the next two weeks.

Looking at pictures and explaining them is difficult for her and answering questions with more than a yes or no.

I had a look online for some information about preventing strokes and healing the damage done by them - here are some links for you:

http://kcci-tvhealth.ip2m.com/index.cfm?PageType=itemDetail&Item_ID=71717&Site_Cat_ID=9
"People with the lowest intake of potassium were 50% more likely to have a stroke than those with the highest dietary intake..."

http://www.holistic-online.com/Remedies/Heart/stroke_alt_herbs.htm

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2002/10/021002070448.htm
"Research at the University of Ulster has shown that folic acid and three other related B-vitamins can prevent the accumulation of a high blood level of homocysteine, a new risk factor for heart disease and strokes."

http://www.strokefamily.org/
"One thing we have noticed over the years is that those who recover from stroke do so with the help of family and friends. Without this firm commitment of time and energy, people simply do not recover from stroke. Every person who had a remarkable recovery, had some persistant relative or caregiver who, along with the medical community, made an extraordinary contribution to this recovery. We have found that families are willing to help--if only they have the right information and some way of knowing what they can do. We aim to provide the tools and information they need."

Hope these help in some way!

Very nice links! Thanks Leo, I'll read them carefully.

I am a firm believer in family and/or friends being a tremendous factor in getting better.

Absolutely. Biggest motivator of all i am sure; if we don't have anyone there willing us to get better, what reason to bother?

Great that she is close to the hospital.

WHO is staying with you when hubby visits, abbi?????

My long time friend (S)will be here 2+ days of the 4.
Another friend is within 5 minutes if needed, she is the one who moved back into the area this spring. She usually brings me yummy food.

It is good that you will not be alone, I'm glad of that. Worry intensifies without distraction, and having friends around will help to ease the pain for you.
