don't forget your experiment, RAFw, please.
each question you've raised, it does good to see it come out of your mind and your fingers. sincerely, I believe, these are questions for which there _are answers. these are questions that we, those few of us talking to each other with honesty and with a minimum of fear, have asked so many times, sometimes only in our minds sometimes out loud. if we haven't found the answers or haven't found enough of those who agree to the answers that have been found or if we have among us those who agree to impliment those solutions, then, at the very least, we are asking the same questions. these certain questions might be asked because we do have a common inkling of an idea or ideas on where each of wants to go, what path each of us will take to reach where we will all ultimately be.
patterns of abuse seem to be part of the condition of life as we know it. there are thinkers among us, from, for example, writers of science fiction like Stanislaw Lem, to the spiritual ones - named and unnamed who appear again and again amongst us in disparate places yet speaking a common language. these are they who suggest propositions on why it might be so and hint at ways in which there may be satisfaction for each of us with no or minimal loss or compromise.
is it necessary to disagree even as we agree, even though - I dare venture to say it - we like (good grief!) each other? I'm not exactly sure why but it is not untrue, perhaps not without the shadow of a doubt but isn't shade welcome on an overly hot day.
nuff said for now.

I'm not forgetting, Kyaa. I'm just ranting okay? And not necessarily at you or Abbi. Sometimes the frustration just comes out of my mouth like slag or something.
It's like watching people in a flood bailing water out the window as it flows in under the door.

yep - understood
Here is an excerpt from the NY Times article on the Burbs being bad for health. How many millions did they spend on these studies?
The studies issued last week are the clearest example yet that the planning and public health fields are beginning to speak each other's language on suburban sprawl. After focusing for years on Americans' diets, health experts have turned to assess the degree to which Americans' four-wheel lives contribute to obesity, hypertension, coronary disease, diabetes, asthma, even mental disorders like anxiety and depression.
They move out into the clear air and then pollute the path to and fro with their Suvs that never get muddy or off the road. They take chances escorting their families on snow and ice because they feel invinceable.

hey guys, sorry for the rather convoluted and, at the same time, fragmented sentences. I am, for the present, too hasty in my desire to get the thought out and too careless in not carefully shaping it to state that which I want to get accross to you. I understand the need to 'speak' as clearly as possible given that I tend to obtuse and abstract in the best of times. thank you for the attention and the time you have lavished upon me and continue to do. it does my soul good.

Thank you again for your kindness, Abbi. Sometimes I feel so tired.
Then I remember all those maligned or twisted ideas that are force fed us. Here then is one of many that I would like to correct.
the greatest jihad (as I understand it - and my definition of this word, so discredited in the media of the ruling elite, is quite different and I believe closer to the truth in terms of what it means for us, spiritually and temporally) is the one that one wages when one stands up to a tyrant and tells the tyrant, to the tyrants face, that it just ain't so.
So, on I go!

There is too much misunderstanding in the world and this medium of communication facilitates rather than dissipates that tendency to be offended or be offensive. Words, by themselves as indeed language itself, are so inadequate an expression for what we feel. Yet, I can't help feel the value of being able to share thoughts with the Diasporas of like minded and even unlike minded people whom each of us can access. Sorely do I feel the deprivation of my other senses in this communication medium which only allows us to see words and sense the keys but does render all other senses redundant when in actuality each is so important to achieving true sharing? Sigh.

?, I agree with your definition of jihad - which can take many forms.
What do you think of
http://www.free-falling-no.net/writings/jihad.html
a song dedicated to the concept that a woman standing up for her rights as a human being in a male dominated society is a form of jihad?

While on the subject of song, maybe even of protest, may I also urge you to listen to Steve Earle's CD, "Jerusalem" and to "Praise" by Kine Lam. Possible you could hear some brief excerpts on Amazon.com.

I am glad you put it together in one short horrifying list.
I still cannot get over the shock of the election with all that came before it. It is hard to believe people do not know his history but many do not.
I will check the other links out too, when I am feeling less
