More News For Our Fellow Lders....

smiley - ok This one is actually for the LDers and any other Researchers who happen to read this journal...smiley - smiley

On the LDers' Quotes Section [ A909010 ], Spook has posted a very important info concerning an interesting project...smiley - cool

For those who missed his posting, here is what he said:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"" U218740 - The Real HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy
smiley - spaceA962769 - THHGTTG Menu System

This is a place where you can write entries and submit them, and they will get in. No horrible peer review process, no it having to be good. All i ask is that it be wacky or funny, but even entries that aren't will get in. Please write entries for this and just post a convo with the A number in, and I will take that entry, subedit it (just spelling and grammar) then ad it to the system, with links from the menu system.

This could be really good with support, so i ask you all for support. Please write entries about anything what so ever, or just avertise, or whatever you want to do. With the support of you great members of the community I think this can succeed.

There is also a Jokeathon at A963254 to create the best joke lists ever, so please get involved with that and tell jokes too.

Thank You everyone who gets involved!

Some more LDers related news...

This time it will be relatively short [compared to the previous journal entry that is...smiley - biggrin]...

smiley - starWe have now our own bar!!!!smiley - star

Yep... it's called "The FoLDers Arms" and has been already err "tested" by some of us...smiley - smiley
The number is: A913150.

There will be more rooms added during the coming weeks... and all suggestions for themes etc regarding these "soon-to-be-added" rooms are more than welcome...smiley - cheers

smiley - starOpening time: a little problem there... our barkeeper cannot be around until 5pm due to some rather unpleasant RL duties [w**k smiley - yikes]...
But, you're still welcome to pop in during the day and help yourself with the drinks... some of us will be around as much as possible during the day...smiley - biggrin

Everyone is welcome... So, let your friends know about it...smiley - ok?!...

smiley - cheers

smiley - starRemember the good old LD library?!... RIP... it is now closed down...smiley - cry Tho' we will never be able to replace it completly we now have a quotes section on h2g2... A909010... Again, suggestions for more topics are more than welcome...smiley - cool
It is more a place to share ideas, infos etc than trying to prove anyone else wrong... so please smiley - grovel _do_ refrain from mocking etc other people's comments/ideas... We really want it to be a place where everyone can feel comfortable expressing themselves about subjects they might not usually talk about in a public place... Together we can make it happen... Thanks in advance...smiley - ta

Also... and that's very important to us for many reasons... we would like to encourage LDers and other Researchers to plug/advertise their entries and projects etc through the "Announcements Room"...smiley - smiley It's there for that... don't hesitate using it...smiley - cool

We will pass on some of these infos to the whole LDers community on h2g2 through various other means [the Lders space's journal being one of them] but, to do so it's important that we know about them in the first place...smiley - biggrin That way, the Quotes Section's Announcements Room will help us in our aim to support the LDers on h2g2...smiley - cool

smiley - starMore?!...

mmmmm... ok... might not be as short as planned...smiley - whistle

smiley - starAny Dreamcast Users around?!...
If you are or/and you know some friends who are, go to U212535...

It's called the Dreamcast Zone and is full of important infos for err Dreamcast Users...smiley - wow worth a look...smiley - smiley

smiley - starA Chatroom?!...

Yep, some LDers have started one a while ago... It's called "Luna's Friendly Chatroom"... it's friendly and at A893991...smiley - cool

The links for the above mentioned projects are also on the "Quotes Section etc..." page... just in case...smiley - biggrin

smiley - starMore news coming soon...

Stay tuned...smiley - smiley

All the best...smiley - surfer

Some News For Lders/Telewesters/Digibox Users...

smiley - bubblyMost of us know now about the digibox friendly "plain" skin which helps accessing long conversations [and replaced at the same time the good old "360 trick"]...

smiley - ufoBut, just in case, and for any newcomers who would happen to read this journal entry here is the link that allows us to change our skin preferences:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/UserDetails

smiley - starIf needed, click on it and, as long as you see "plain" written in the box, click on "update"... that should do the trick...smiley - disco

smiley - bubblyIt's still in its prototype stage as it was released early as a favour to the digibox users...

smiley - discoBut if you need to do some site searching etc manda, kow, myself and other LDers have the necessairy links on our spaces... feel free to use them...
================================
smiley - bubblyMORE NEWS:

smiley - starOne of the LDers on h2g2 [EXIDOS2K2 at U208213] has started a chat site for LDers and Telewesters...

Tho' you might be depending on the firewalls to be down for accessing that site, do try to pay a visit when you have a chance...

It is a smileys friendly site and all but it also would be nice to keep in touch with some of the LDers who won't be able to access yoome2 in a "soon to come" future...

smiley - discoHere is the link:

http://tinyurl.com/2p27

As the firewalls are up at the mo' you might not be able to access it just now but they will eventually get down again...smiley - biggrin

smiley - bubblySPICING UP YOUR TV EMAILS...

This one is from kyle [U210783]...

smiley - starThe Guide researched and produced by kyle will show you how to make your emails definitely less boring...

smiley - boingerr... let me re-phrase that...smiley - biggrin

What i meant was that with the codes provided you will be able to make your TVemails look EVEN more interesting...

It involves having coloured lettering, words in italics etc and being able to center your text among other things...

A good bargain there as all it will cost you is the time to email kyle at:

[email protected]

From now on your TVemails will look as different as you want...smiley - cheers

smiley - ufoThere will be more details about these informations in some soon to come entries but we felt that it was important that as many of our fellow LDers/telewesters/digibox users get these news the soonest possible...

smiley - wahUnfortunately Real Life duties do affect the time we can spend on here and we might not have been able to pass these info as early as planned...

smiley - bubblyWe have more names on the LDers list so if you haven't had a look for a while you're more than welcome to check it and say hi to some of the peeps on there...

If you want to have the list of the LDers on your space the number is A814303...

smiley - rocketAnd if you need any help to get your personal space started don't hesitate to email manda or myself... the emails addies are on the friends of LeisureDistrict's main page U201567 and, once again, this service is for you to use freely...

smiley - smileyTime to stop now as long postings are not always an efficient way to pass on some info...

smiley - boingDon't forget to add the LDers' space to your friends list; that way you will be able to get any update, news etc straight away...

All the best to everyone...

Talk soon...smiley - surfer

Stay tuned...smiley - smiley

Celebrating Fellow LDers Contribution To The Guide...

"Just a thought" from loupsmiley - fullmoon:

smiley - boingIt came to me as i was adding a few links to the "Some Useful Links etc" page...

smiley - starAt the beginning i wanted to put a few examples of how the members of the LeisureDistrict community in H2G2 are contributing to this site...

smiley - ufoThen i thought: "Why not going further and listing our fellow LDers most important entries?!"...

smiley - starAnd of course it would not mean just LDers who are relatively new in here; there must be some former LDers too among the "established" H2G2 Researchers...

smiley - bubblyIT would not really be a guide but more like a compilation of entries written by (former and actual) LDers...

smiley - aliensmileThe next step of course is to think of categories... some are kinda obvious... hehe... "The Unknown" and "Fiction"...

smiley - discoAny other suggestions?!... [not sure if "poetry" is a good idea as we don't really want to tempt fate with "classic" kow around... hehe]smiley - run

smiley - discoAnyway that's the idea at the mo'...

smiley - ta

smiley - rocketstay tuned as always...
