Hmm, some interesting ideas there, although I'll have to beat myself over the head with a jargon stick before I understand aka's technical shenanigans. smiley - smiley

I've tried to set up seperate "accounts" too: I logout & reregister but when I try to do anything (ie access conversation, guide or front page, & even preferences) I'm automatically logged back in THIS account!? & all the turning off in the world doesn't change that smiley - shrug (that may be another nonexistent "smiley")

But that password change sounds promisingly logical, & simple too (why didn't I think of that!) Of course I'll have to get "them" to jolt my memory via email seeing as its nearly a year since I've had to be bothered with remembering it! "Coping with senility?" "No, microwave cookery! Oh wait- yeah, Coping with senility!"

Oops, sorry, I was suddenly possessed by a Simpsons episode, but I'm back in my own mind now!
Many thanks again, you're all far too helpful. If password thing works I'll tell all tomorrow (or when TW permits!)

Aaand finally: 5th meaning for GOTH'IC an ornate black-letter typeface of Germanic origin.

PS. After your mention of their "interactive" football & rugby service I can't resist another snipe at the big "T": You press the red button & have to wait 2mins while it loads in (ooh, wait for iiiit..) A Menu! & this provides less information than analogue teletext!?
It makes you want to strike up a Charlton Heston pose & scream, "Damn you! Damn you all to Hell!"

On 2nd thoughts I'll tell you now, albeit through an impatient yawn: the logical password change didn't work, but who said digiboxes are logical? It all reminds me of what Thomas Edison (?) said about not failing but merely discovering many ideas that don't work! smiley - smiley

&_hi loup
All those graphics in FoLDers Arms test my patience, but have an smiley - oj for me.

the main smileys you will really need in the FoLders Arms are:

smiley - alesmiley - stiffdrinksmiley - cheers...

after that the rest is sheer luxury [paid by the bbc mind you...smiley - whistle]...smiley - biggrin

smiley - ale = < ale > without the spaces

smiley - stiffdrink = < stiffdrink > ditto

smiley - cheers = < cheers > ditto again

tho' you don't really have to use smileys to have a chat there... we're just testing the limits of our collective madness, that's why we're using as many smileys as we can me thinks...smiley - laugh

and as for logic when it comes to the digibox... yep, you're right; no logic there at all...smiley - biggrin

Hi Element9inety2wo

Yes, the bbci bar has been a disappointment, but both the football and Six Nations were fully interactive with analysis, choice of commentary and highlights. So it does "work", it just seems TW like to drag their feet when providing anything they can't charge for.

Hi & Bye to all.
Wow, interactive football DID work today! yesterday I couldn't get past the "Loading.." mantra, hence my little strop. Maybe its cos it was on BBC2, or perhaps it was easier cos no-one wanted to "interact" with Rochdale smiley - smiley

But onto the problem in hand: I've studied & virtually understood all that technical gubbins but there are little contradictions there. It says to enter the code 1111 by pressing tv button 4 times, but later says buttons are "numbered" 4 down to 1 starting from the top, & the tv button IS at the top so surely pressing that would give code 4444 not 1111?
Also, if Emmily's around, in that conversation you said you did try this, which begs the following questions:
a) Did it work?
& b) Was THIS the reason your digibox needed replacing?

Much as I would like to be free to log on & off as easily as falling off one (a log, I mean. Sorry, puns don't help do they!) on the other hand I don't want a doorstep visit from Telewest's Men-In-Black demanding explanations & call-out fees smiley - smiley
Hmm I guess I'll have to think about it some more. Sorry Brain!

Hi All..smiley - smiley..

Hi Element..smiley - smiley..
The thought of a 'call out fee' from TW..is what made me so reluctant of messing with my digibox..I did however attemp what aka suggested..(post 22 of the conversation)..he was right in that it was possible to change the numbers..but..as I also say..I then had problems with my 'box' which may have been coincidence..

My memory is not too good..as far as I can remember..I kept complaining to TW of 6050..(we don't get them any more..replaced with diffeerent error codes)..of general slowness..of being unable to access sent email to detete it..(they were deleted by TW HQ)..which didn't help the not able to logout problem..it's not the email itself causing the problem..that instruction is enbebed in your digibox memory..it wasn't until I got a new digibox that I could login/out..

It might be worth asking aka..someone may have found a way around this problem..smiley - smiley..
