We have a terrible forecast for today and this evening. So far, though, we have mised the worst of it which was suppposed to come in overnight. They were predicitng 1.5 - 2 inches of rain overnight. That wouyld have made the grounds really soggy,even if it did clear up. We had a five minute shower this morning and now the sun is playing peek-a-boo with the clouds.

I want to get this event over and done with. So, whereas I'm not in the mood to have it tonight, I hope the weather holds.

I just figured with your bad luck with the moderators and Latin, you might get in trouble over the Smurfish language

We just had a little shower. Nothing much. Some folks are showing up around 3 to start setting up. So far we only have three entries for the ugly truck contest. I personally know that there are more ugly trucks than that in town. Where is their civic pride?

Well, it's over and done with. The weather was nice and cool which is amazing for August. The band was good,the food was acceptable and the trucks were ugly. Life is good in middle America.

No cars were allowed in the contest. Pickups only. The winner wasn't actually the ugliest. It was a dollar a vote and the winner's friends and realatives primed the pump so to speak. It was ugly....just not as ugly as the one in second place which showed up and had one of the front tires go flat immediately.

Odd. I pictured Fundamentalist Smurf with one of those checkered tablecloth headdresses like Yasser Arafat and a sword. If he was a cynic, then I like him better.

It is true that Fundamentalist Smurf occasionally blows up Papa Smurf's laboratory, but in his defense, his headdress is plaid.

Is there actually a character called Fundamentalist Smurf? You're making all of this up, right?

Wonder why the smurfs are blue. Why not avocado or ochre or cramberry?

Well, I'm sure there's a reason they're blue. They wrote more than 500 episodes. One of those has to explain why they're blue.

Hindu gods and goddesses are blue. Perhaps smurfs were originally from India.

But back to smurfs

Perhaps the smurfs are Indian. It isn't inconceivable. After all, they're certainly not American or British - that is, they certainly shouldn't be speaking English.

There's just something about blue skin and bright pink hair that is a bit disconcerting. I mean, would you make friends with someone with that color scheme? Goddess only knows what color they paint their toenails.....if they have toenails.
