I'm tempted to say "fondue bites", but that would be lying... I love fondue... in all its forms.

Mmm, strawberries with chocolate!
Have you noticed that all our threads have been converging to talking about food?

Ugh. You don't find it in the least revolting? Mixing spit in food that you eventually redip in? With other people? I don't know why that bothers me so much. Direct sharing of saliva doesn't bother me but it ruins the food.

Mr. Carrot Posted Apr 3, 2004
Well, we do it slightly more hygienically in Norway. We dip it, and then remove it from the fondue spit, before we eat it. that way, no saliva gets into the fondue...

Glad to hear I'm good for something. I do try my best.
Now, that I could handle, but the constant mixing of saliva into the pot makes me nauseous. Guess it's an American thing, the double dipping.

Mr. Carrot Posted Apr 3, 2004
I never even thought of people doing something like that... I can understand how it would make you nauseous.

Flying Betty- Now with added nickname tag! Posted Apr 3, 2004
Yeah. I also thought fondue tended to be served in little bites so the double dipping thing didn't get to be a problem.

I don't know that you can completely avoid it unless you decide not to have anything to do with the stuff. Ick.

Mr. Carrot Posted Apr 3, 2004
Oh, it's possible to avoid, allright. Just remove the food from the spit with something or other reserved exclusively for that purpose.

Oh, so parties should have special "no spitting" pots for their fondue!

Hey, at least you're uncorrupted and can say you've never actually *gulp* ingested the rot.
