here we go...
as jon said the place to apply is Aces and you will be given the place and time for your "audition"...
the audition consists in a welcoming message like if you were posting stuff to a newbie.. it's and rather straightforward... some more veteran ACEs will give their feedback and correct any little mistakes you might have made... usually little things that you might have forgotten... once you've taken their advice into account and as long as your first message was not too far away from the mark you will be able to post another one with the added corrections...
have you had a look at U190118 ?!... loads of interesting and informative stuff there especially the feedback given to the candidates... worth a look...
you will notice that one of the advices has to do with named entries... some of these help pages can be named instead of having their numbers posted... for example <./>AskH2G2</.> instead of A123456 [i haven't got the right number but it's only to illustrate my example]...
that's done by typing < . / >AskH2G2 < . / > without the spaces...
same with <./>info</.> or <./>FrontPage</.> etc...
i will tell you more about it later on when i come back <./>online</.>
not bad for a start.. hehe.. any other questions, go for it...
i haven't applied myself yet as not only i'm too busy at the mo' with the Lders Space but also i'm waiting to get my PC first... then as things can be done quicker with a PC, i will be able to do both without sacrificing the LDers Space side...
talk soon...

jon.. hehe.. i had some practice during Big Sis week one...
loz:
another important link [as listed in feisor's help page] is the Advice Corner A1027171 where not only digibox users can get _specific_ help but where even PC users can get advice... GuideMl being non-discriminatory when it comes to give headaches to H2G2ers [new and not so new]...
these two links are definitely important when welcoming anyone who is a possible ex-LDer...
something that you can put at the end of your audition but precising that this bit is for when the newbie is a digibox user... then you can kill two birds with one stone: you have a general welcoming message which applies to _any_ newbie coming on this site and with the second part you show that you can give the relevant information to those newbies who don't access the site through a PC...
jon... kinda glad you popped in [in a way...] as the Advice Corner A1027171 could do with more volunteers... having a good number of people able to give good advice around makes life easier for everyone... on top of the fact that we all have knowledge in different aspects of H2G2... so the more the better....
i'm really going offline _now_...
talk soon everyone...
