Pan, just be sure to wear ~something~.
That's great news Jack. How are you going to convince the missus that she wants to spend July 4th in Missouri? If I recall, you couldn't even get her to the Christmas bazaar. You'll have to emphasize the unique aspect of the experience.

Sounds like what I'll have to do to get my sis on a plane so we can do a garden tour.
How are you going to manage the packing without tipping her off? (Thisis going to make a great story, you realize.)

Madam President,
Webb City is about 200 miles and four hours from Mountain Home, Arkansas...I'm penciling in a 4AM run up to Webb City on the morning of the 4th until about 2 PM, when I will need to make a fast run back to Mountain Home for the annual "blow sh*t up festival" which begins promptly when darkness falls.
Thanks for the invite. I'm sure your guests will be a hoot. Please make sure to publish a confirmed guest list so I can study personal spaces at my leisure.
Your Faithful Minion,
-Phred

Phred, there are several people who are already planning to attend. But a lot of things can happen between now and then, so I'm not sure when to put up a list. In the spring, perhaps.
We're all just so far apart. It is going to take a real effort for US researchers to get together. So I'm thinking of promoting this as a "maybe the only time you'll have a chance to meet" meet. Because, that could very well be true. And we should have a few guests from the UK, also. So, it will be a truly international meet.
I am going to have souvenir teeshirts made, so I'll need a list of attendees and their sizes early enough to get them ordered and delivered in time. I can't afford to have a lot made up and then not need them. Which reminds me that I need to get busy on the teeshirt design.

From reading earlier posts: Maybe the Spook Light would be an idea for an outing. There is no guarantee you will see it though. It does exist. I have seen it on more than one occasion and heard the old man's stories and songs as well. At one time he had a "viewing stand" set up. Looked suspiciously like discarded bleachers........

RJR, we're having deep fried turkey, smoked brisket and barbecued venison. Lots of salads and veggies. Blackberry cobbler and strawberry shortcake both topped with home made ice cream.
The spook light would be fun. I don't know why I didn't think of that. The old man is long gone, though.

We'll see who wants to do what. But it's good to have another thing to add to the list of possibilities.
I'm not sure I could still find it. I'll have to make a run down there.

We used to go through Redings Mill, if I'm not mistaken. If you get to Seneca, you have gone too far.

I thought the road to it was off of 43 south of 44. Just after you got onto 43 - close to the interstate. On a curve. The road goes west, right? And then you turn back south?

Lady Chattingly Posted Dec 16, 2005
All I know, since I haven't been down there in 40 years, is that it's on the way to Seneca.................

And what is this west and south business? You know I only go frontwards, backwards, left and right! I have no sense of direction. Thank goodness we have a built in compass on our rear view mirror.
