Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

smiley - cheerssmiley - taThanks Jim for the tip about getting printer cartridges online.

It has been my birthday today, my mam, sisters and neices came over for a bbq party in the garden. Lots of food, drink, presents and cards. The neighbours little cat came in the garden and I stroked it and it said miawow to me. The cat used to run away from me but now has become brave enough for me to stroke it. If I take cod liver oil, I find the cat even more friendlier.

Take care

All the best

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

smiley - cheerssmiley - taThanks Jim for your very kind birthday wishes.smiley - smiley Tommorrow I will be going to Grays to get some more paint for my bedroom.smiley - smiley

It will not be long before I start doing the bathroom, all I have to do is decide what colour to use. The bathroom is a dark violet colour and looks very dark.

I got the V for Vendetta DVD today and I watched it this afternoon. When there is nothing on the tv, I either put a video or dvd or watch the teletext. I have had a limited (My Mam's tv) teletext service as I can only use digital BBC teletext and only use ITV on ITV4 (digital) at 6pm. ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and channel 4 (digita) teletext does not work. I cannot get ordinary teletext on any of the terrestial channels. The tv signal is very poor as it is a shared aerial, also the London tv signal is not strong enough for this area as we are not part of London and we are not covered by Anglia tv. We are more closer Kent to London (8 miles away) but the Kent signal does not reach over here. We are in the tv twillight zone.

hi kat
-
there are a few good tv boosters about, the one you want is the kind that works off the mains power.with ajusterble frequencey control.
-
its best to get one from a shop that as a money back policy, or a place that allows you to try then buy.
-
just an idea, what about a skyblue, very light on the walls and a slightly brighter blue on the ceiling part.to offset.
-
this would depend on what colour your tiles are in the bathroom.

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

smiley - cheerssmiley - taThanks for the advice on television boosters.

Sky blue sounds a like a good colour for the bathroom. There are some bathroom tiles and they are around the bath and are white in colour.

I had an accident with my paint taking it to my flat as I spilled about a third of it. It just fell out of the plastic bag and the lid fell off. It also was very windy at the time.

Take care
xx

hi kat
-
ho dear, as long as you didnt get it all over you i hope.
-
mine is a medium blue with two walls of white tiles, the fittings are all a very light two tone blue, so a slightly darker one was better for my two remaining walls.
-
if you need any help with anything, i can acsess the lib pc any day mon to saturday.

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

I did not get any paint on me but there is a big puddle of paint of on the pavement, very embarressing as it is near my Mam's sheltered flat. I should have taken the paint back to my flat after going to Grays but I went back to my Mam's flat instead as I was feeling very tired. There were road works going and coming back from Grays. One are road works on a bridge that has been going for a year. It is not unusual for roadworks to take so long as there are roadworks on a bridge in Pitsea that have been going for 3 years. I will have to go Grays tomorrow and get more paint. Not much to do only half a wall and top part of the window wall.

smiley - cheerssmiley - taThanks for the offer of help.

Take care

All the best

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

It is good to hear that you are getting in touch with past contributors to the WW2 site and will be getting in contact with the secretary of 205 squadron.smiley - cheers

I have seen military helicopters over South Ockendon, the ones with the twin blades. I have seen two of them today once in the morning and then later on in the afternoon.

I went to Grays today and coming back 2 miles out of South Ockendon in the bus there was a big traffic jam. I got on the bus not long after 2pm and arrived in South Ockendon an hour later when it should have taken 30 minutes bus ride. I did get off at my flat but I was in out dropping off my paint and it is only a 5 minute walk away from my Mam's flat and I got there around 3:25pm.

hi kat
-
well at least with the extra time, you got where you wanted, you know what they say, the diff between getting there and getting there late can change your life.
-
if your on time, you could be in the jam as an accident, instaed of late and part of one.that time diff could be a lifesaver to speak.lolsmiley - smiley

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

luckily, no road accidents, have had happened. Most of traffic jams in Thurrock have been caused by road works s there have been a lot of roadworks this summer.

I have got a bit of a cold so I have not been far today. I have been feeling cold recently. I am watching a programme called Togas on tv on BBC4.

No, I have not seen the offshoot on h2g2 - dannywallace.

hi kat
-
ive been to the library again today, i did a search again for the two missing crew of the plane in the ww2 story
-
i must have checked over 20 sites, then a polish site said stalag luft7,this was the camp i wanted to see a list of pow.s from
-
i acsessed the site, and at the top was camp 7, and then in the next section a list of 70 pow,s and to my suprise was the two
-
billing and craigs, on the list at 49/50.now all i have to do is find someone that can read polish, so i can see what the list is, ie dead, was in camp, left at the end of the war.
-
hope your colds a bit better smiley - discojimxxxxx

Hi Jim smiley - smiley

smiley - cheerssmiley - taThanks Jim, my cold is a bit better, all I need is rest.

Was Stalag Luft7 the camp in the Great Escape?

Polish is not an easy language, I used to have a Polish penpal and I would try and write in Polish with the help of my Polish/English dictionary and for letters coming back I would slowly translate it.

smiley - bubblyGood luck with the research on the two missing airmen. I remember seeing once or twice a Second World War film called "One of our Airment are missing" about a downed RAF plane in Holland/Amsterdam.

hi kat
-
stalag luft 7 is the camp that the two missing aircrew from my guide entry where in lol
-
i need to register on the polish site to navigate, but as i cant speak polish, what i,ll have to do is acsess the register part, write the sections i need to fill in and then translate with the
-
http://www.poltran.com site
-
from polish to english.

its nearly 10pm, b/b take care smiley - discojimxxxxx

Hi Jimsmiley - smiley

I have tried the site and put in the sentence my brother eats beetroot soup and is in the garden with a yellow monkey. The words "beetroot soup" and monkey did not have a Polish equivalent.

I tried to watch my library loaned DVD Alexander. I mostly fast forwarded it and found it boring. I did the same with Kingdom of Heaven and Troy. I liked the old style films of Spartacus, Ben Hur and El Cid. The nearest film that been liked the old sandals and toga of the 50's and 60's movies is Gladiator.

I have been looking for carpet retailers in Essex that offer free fitting service. I have heard that some places sell remnants. I have been trying to find online which is the cheapest and which has the best service.

hi kat
-
sorry i had a very tiring day yesterday and didnt get online late last night,
-
ive confirmed the two airmen where in the camp 7.i f you put raf command in the google, then the first is 1939-1945, click this and to the right is a link to raf pow,s, this gives you a a to z section.
-
in the b you will find a.w.billing and c p.h.craig, so now im 100% certain in 1944 they where in the camp, it closed in jan 19th 1945.as the d day was till 6th june 1945, they must have been moved, but where.
=====
the poltran,(did you remeber that it as to be in capitals)when you translate.
=====
try this for fun,
WITAM SZUKAM WSZELKICH INFO TEMATOBOZU KTO W NIM SIEDZIAL OD KIEDY DO KIEDY SZUKAM PLANU OBOZU MOZE
========
an idea on the carpet for some rooms, you might be able to find it cheaper to get carpet squares, odd ones, that are left behind, i did that in the front room, its 7 colours, red, blue, green, grey, orange, yellow and purple
-
ive made them into a pattern from the edge to the center, everyone thinks i paid about £150 or something.i got 70 for £40.
-
be carefull where you get the reminance, make sure they arnt faded or something, its easy to get caught out.smiley - discojimxxxx
